I just was looking for this! Torches are super useless and I have some realistic lighting mods and nights are so dark
Monophonotronic  [author] 28 Feb, 2016 @ 9:30am
I would load True Torches before CoT and RCRN.
Bonzo 28 Feb, 2016 @ 8:06am
Perhaps there is a load order problem? what do you recommend Monophonotronic
Bonzo 28 Feb, 2016 @ 8:05am
I haven't noticed a difference other than the torches are dimmer... i do have a lot of mods installed but the only ones that are lighting-related are CoT, RCRN, and this one. How can I fix?
Monophonotronic  [author] 13 May, 2015 @ 11:19pm
@Playtheist

To my knowledge nothing has changed. Possibly an unknown or unlisted change from another mod.
Playtheist 13 May, 2015 @ 9:04am
Odd, but of late these have become infinte-duration torches for me. They seem to work fine in every other respect. I've used your mod for many months. Did something update recently in the game, or on Steam?

Looks really good- thank you! :) Thanks also for putting it on Steam. Convenient. :bolt:

Finally,a mod to make it brighter with a mod to make it darker. (it makes sense out loud)
TehPingwin 30 May, 2013 @ 9:46am
Unsubscribing here only to switch to Nexus managment. Loving this mod <3
Steely 19 May, 2013 @ 5:36pm
Really good idea. Great mod.
TulkasIV 18 Apr, 2013 @ 3:58pm
This helps. When I got the Realistic Lighting mod before, the only thing i could use to see where I was going at night were spells like Candlelight and Magelight.
Monophonotronic  [author] 1 Apr, 2013 @ 8:24am
No, it doesn't. It only adds what it says it adds.
Deimos 9 Nov, 2012 @ 2:29pm
Does this mod adds torches for NPC`s at night?
E V I L G E N I 1 Nov, 2012 @ 11:52pm
Make 2 versions: One that casts shadows, and one that doesn't.
PatMoxx 30 Jul, 2012 @ 6:33pm
Not a problem, I'm just trying to look for a mod in general that shows shadows from night time torches and vstuff...it gets me mad how i cant find any yet :(
Monophonotronic  [author] 30 Jul, 2012 @ 6:28pm
Sorry if I came off as a bit of a dick. Horrible day. I apologize.
PatMoxx 30 Jul, 2012 @ 6:20pm
Ohhh ok...
Monophonotronic  [author] 30 Jul, 2012 @ 3:44pm
That's because this isn't a mod to enables those shadows. It can have a negative effect on peoples performance so I won't be doing that. Also, the shadows look horrible when in 3rd person.
PatMoxx 30 Jul, 2012 @ 8:51am
They dont produce shadows off NPCs nor me :(
Tuna Meatball 21 Jul, 2012 @ 8:35am
Can you increase the radius of lamplight? I use the wearable lanterns mod in caves and they work but not enough for how dark my game is now

Thank you for your excellent mod. I added it to my collection so that others may reap what you sowed. Check out The Intrepid Skyrim v3.0 {LINK REMOVED}
Gaijin War Fox 23 Jun, 2012 @ 1:12pm
Thanks a lot, makes more use of torches, especially if one like myself has the "Darker Nights, Caves, Etc." mod.
RedOrange 21 Jun, 2012 @ 6:11pm
@freeasabird420
Awesome idea!
Monophonotronic  [author] 6 Jun, 2012 @ 3:52pm
Thanks for that. I really do appreciate it. I'm surprised that this mod got any attention, really.
Freeasabird🕊 4 Jun, 2012 @ 10:04pm
@Monophonotronic

Hay man, i gotta real cool mod idea for ya! Howz about a mod were you can write your OWN books Like personal Journals so you dont forget important things or write an EPIC book on your adventures step by step. yah know like LOTR :D. i have been looking around and i have'nt seen anything like that on steam or NEXES so i think it a good bet it'll be Original. well what do you think? it's a good idea huh?
Arod Snaux 13 May, 2012 @ 4:38pm
Yeah it's very telling when you are poking about the CK and find references to Pip-boys and Morrowind lol. Those guys need to clean shop.

Although a Pip-boy in Skyrim WOULD be very cool, lol.
Monophonotronic  [author] 13 May, 2012 @ 7:59am
Since I've caught wind of a possible update being right around the corner, I've held back from updating this mod for now. I don't wanna possible find a solution just for another update to give me a new problem or two. Hopefully they will also update the CK to not be so....odd. Lots of weird variables that just shouldn't exist ot begin with.
Arod Snaux 13 May, 2012 @ 12:18am
I've been playing with torch quite a bit myself, and I know that torch radius is also linked to the current terrain and worldspace. I'm having a bear of a time trying to get torches to illuminate areas even half as well as magelight. Its particularly noticeable if you are on floor tiling thats been stretched to 2x or 3x normal size. You can have a torch properly illuminate the tile you are on and 3' away everything is pitch black.

I think it was Beth trying to save CPU cycles. I'm hoping this mod will at least partially fix the issue, because i like the feel of to4rchlight better than the harsh glare of magelight.
N4M3Z 11 May, 2012 @ 11:51am
Ok, so I have done some further testing. It is hard to judge the radius, because it really seems very different from place to place. For example Riften night is so dark I cant see much even with torch + candlelight. On the other hand most dungeons I can see pretty well and the radius seems ok. This will be a tuning thing really :/ ... Also it appears that your mod is somehow directly affected by this mod: enhancedlightingforrealisticlighting.esp. The load order seems to affect the radius.
Monophonotronic  [author] 11 May, 2012 @ 9:12am
Good advice. I haven't even touched Skyrim is a few weeks. Guess it's about time to get around to it.
N4M3Z 11 May, 2012 @ 6:55am
Hey Monophonotronic, sorry for late reply. I observe similar behaviour. I must say I have had quite a ride trying to make my savegames work on the 1.5.*26. There are a lot of mods that were never properly tested with that version and it is a big mess. Your mod seems to behave exactly as you say, the radius is somehow "mutated" in my savegames as well. Did you try a clean 1.5.*26 save? Set the radii according to the new version and dont bother with the rest ...
Monophonotronic  [author] 9 Apr, 2012 @ 7:07pm
I have actually noticed that the vanilla game seems to have a larger ligth radius than my torch mod. I disabled all mods and this seems to be true. It could just be remnants of an old mod, maybe. Can some people test this for me?
N4M3Z 9 Apr, 2012 @ 2:40pm
Mods using this method (e.g.: Better horses) usually only require saving and loading the game, but in this case I am not sure. You can place the book onto some altar of light in some temple or something to make it feel more RP ...

Btw for some reason Candlelight has now massive range in my game (1.5 patch?), so I am just using a mod to make it last 5 minutes.
Monophonotronic  [author] 9 Apr, 2012 @ 12:45am
If I did have it to where players could set the radius in-game, I believe the game would still require a restart for the effects to be seen. But more on that when I get to it.
Monophonotronic  [author] 9 Apr, 2012 @ 12:43am
Oooh. I get what you're saying now. That does sound like a good idea, but it would take some time because this is my first mod that actually involves the Creation Kit. Would need the time to get it together and test it properly.
N4M3Z 8 Apr, 2012 @ 2:44pm
"I could make a thousand different variants and still not everyone will be happy."

That is why a mentioned the configuration book, but if you dont have time, I understand.
Monophonotronic  [author] 7 Apr, 2012 @ 1:06am
If you enjoy my mod, please go and give my custom ini for Realistic Lighting 3.31 a try: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=9287

I have put many hours into it. V2 is by far the best, visually.
Monophonotronic  [author] 5 Apr, 2012 @ 10:25pm
To everyone asking for a Mage Light or Candlight tweak, try this mod: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=14455
Monophonotronic  [author] 5 Apr, 2012 @ 10:25pm
I really do not plan on updating this anymore. I could make a thousand different variants and still not everyone will be happy.
N4M3Z 4 Apr, 2012 @ 6:01pm
Hello. Are you planning any updates? Could be just my realistic lighting + ENB setup, but I cant see almost anything using the torch in open terrain. Could be I just need larger radius. Would you perhaps consider making a "configuration book" which would allow the player to set the radii in-game? Some other mods started using these config books or powers (I prefer books really, weird powers in the menu seem annoying) and it seems to be a good way to go.
Arawn Nox 31 Mar, 2012 @ 10:59pm
This was a much needed addition to the Realistic Lighting mod.
Dungeons are scary and extra lighting sources manditory. :)
Monophonotronic  [author] 29 Mar, 2012 @ 11:21am
Yeh, the monsters seeing in the dark thing is annoying. Neither this mod nor RL changed those permeters because RL can be customised so easily
Mezner 28 Mar, 2012 @ 10:17pm
this mod is very nice but i'm currently experiementing with other mods so i'm unsubscribing. If your looking for a mod that works well with the other listed realistic lighting mods then this is it. Torches become assential if you are not a magic user or have night vision. Really helps immerse you into the dungeon crawling experience, although i have noticed that even with both mods installed monsters seem to be able to see in the dark, human / playable races included. This kinda sucks that they can operate with not really problems while you do. Still i enjoyed this mod and Useable Lanterns and realistic lighting for a long time now and i may switch back.

ok, no problem, i just said i thank you for your answer and to confirm they work very well with the mod dynakic torch, i have dowloaded the french version from the link you have put in your anwers, sorry for the french text, i have forget they have been translated by other, thank again for your work...
Monophonotronic  [author] 25 Mar, 2012 @ 12:37pm
No idea what you said haha I didn't make the French version. Someone asked me for permission to do it.
Daniel 25 Mar, 2012 @ 12:07pm
Monophonotronic  [author] 25 Mar, 2012 @ 1:46am
Actually, there is a French version. I just forgot to link to it. http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=11897
Daniel 23 Mar, 2012 @ 11:43am
Good, but it's can be better for all, if you plan to add multiple language to your mod..., not only you, but all the modler, i know it's only one word for this mod but it's not all the planet they talk english, i unsuscribe only because it's only in english an i want my game all in french. but your mod is very good, i can be able to view the wall before broking my nose on it...
