Why not put it in place of your usual energy+health, making them temporarily temporarily invisible?
You could biggen the energy bar or even choose its color.

I don't really know your degree of modding skills, I'm not really a modder myself and I don't play it for all that long, but if you have the ability now or later, there is the possibility for something with the "Quickbar" mod to let users customise their energy bars.

Possible Options:
-Energy in place of health+player energy and big
-In place player energy, below health
-Below player's energy.
-Default above mech but BIGGER

Color/texture chosen separately

i thought i would have loved this mod... but it's constantly being covered by notices when i pick something up >.<

That'll be usefull.
I really don't like where the energy bar is placed either so getting this to add to the mods list I have currently.
