Hey, is there any way to reverse the way this mod works? I'm currently checking the source code but if you know the way already I'd be glad to know it.
I need to set the players nearby (in team) while AIs being as far as possible.

Kepos 31 Oct, 2018 @ 7:18am
Great idea and I back the idea of @Cosmic Fox to have you evaluate a single-player version. :steamhappy:
Faysal 14 Mar, 2018 @ 2:43pm
yay
Genjokoan 26 Feb, 2018 @ 11:46pm
This looks fab, but I only play singles.
Cosmic Fox 22 Feb, 2018 @ 12:43pm
We need this for single player games @EnvyDragon.. For the same exact reasons, I like my own land mass but that rarely happens due to how the base game is coded.. Only creates so many land masses.. I play on collassal maps only.. (larger map sizes mod) if you get the time please look at it.. thx :^D Excellent description by the way!
NVDragon 9 Feb, 2018 @ 1:09pm
This is really cool, and honestly should be part of the base game!

...I hate to be That Guy, but how difficult would it be to do literally the opposite of this? Human players starting next to each other, I mean? I play Civ 6 with my girlfriend a lot and the game likes to start us on opposite continents. This should ALSO be part of the base game, but it just isn't for whatever reason.

@ChillOut : Thank you, you've made my evening! All the best with your singleplayer Civ adventures.
ChillOut 26 Jan, 2018 @ 9:14am
Just wanted to compliment the mod author on the best, most informative description of any mod I've seen. So nice to see someone who pays attention to detail! That being said, unfortunately I don't play much multiplayer in Civ, so I don't think I'll have the opportunity to use this.

(continued from below)

It is also worth noting that Civ VI's code for generating start positions was broken by the Fall 2017 patch. The November 2017 patch improved the situation, but bad start positions are still generated sometimes.

This mod doesn't generate the start positions. Standard Civ VI code is used to generate the start positions. If you encounter a terrible starting position, this is not caused by the mod.

The mod takes the start positions that are generated by Civ VI, and swaps players between them so that the human players are spread apart.

Hopefully there will be improvements to start position generation in future Civ patches and the upcoming expansion pack.

I hope that answers your question. :)

@Swolo :
This mod's effects on terrain starting bias are described in the mod documentation above, in the 'Limitations' section.

Here's a summary:

The mod spreads human players as far apart as it can. To achieve this, the preferred terrain bias for each civ may be ignored.

For example, Russia likes to start in tundra. But this mod may put Russia in grasslands instead of tundra, if this is necessary to spread the human players apart.

Restricting each civ to its preferred terrain would make it more difficult for the mod to spread the human players apart. Such functionality might be explored in future, but it would involve a lot of additional work.
Foolish 20 Jan, 2018 @ 2:43pm
does this mod make the bias broken? like does it make it so some players just start in trash tundra while other one doesnt...

Cheers for the feedback NedStar|Cryo|, I'm glad you like the mod.
NedStar|Cryo| 15 Oct, 2017 @ 9:21am
Exactly what I was looking for, thanks.

Hi Satyr, the newly-released version of the mod will not reposition human player(s) if they already occupy a most distant starting plot. The logging example in the mod documentation has been updated to reflect the current functionality. Thanks for your feedback!

I'm Baris Batiege and this is my favourite mod on the Citad- workshop.
Satyr 2 Sep, 2017 @ 4:40am
I would suggest you add a small check before reassigning starting plots. As your example shows Player 2 allready _is_ in one of the two plots determined to be assigned to the human players, so why isnt he allowed to keep it? It seems silly to me that Australias preferred startingplot gets reassigned to France ...
