I need to set the players nearby (in team) while AIs being as far as possible.
...I hate to be That Guy, but how difficult would it be to do literally the opposite of this? Human players starting next to each other, I mean? I play Civ 6 with my girlfriend a lot and the game likes to start us on opposite continents. This should ALSO be part of the base game, but it just isn't for whatever reason.
It is also worth noting that Civ VI's code for generating start positions was broken by the Fall 2017 patch. The November 2017 patch improved the situation, but bad start positions are still generated sometimes.
This mod doesn't generate the start positions. Standard Civ VI code is used to generate the start positions. If you encounter a terrible starting position, this is not caused by the mod.
The mod takes the start positions that are generated by Civ VI, and swaps players between them so that the human players are spread apart.
Hopefully there will be improvements to start position generation in future Civ patches and the upcoming expansion pack.
I hope that answers your question. :)
This mod's effects on terrain starting bias are described in the mod documentation above, in the 'Limitations' section.
Here's a summary:
The mod spreads human players as far apart as it can. To achieve this, the preferred terrain bias for each civ may be ignored.
For example, Russia likes to start in tundra. But this mod may put Russia in grasslands instead of tundra, if this is necessary to spread the human players apart.
Restricting each civ to its preferred terrain would make it more difficult for the mod to spread the human players apart. Such functionality might be explored in future, but it would involve a lot of additional work.
