i believe that is simply a limitation to the thinking behind the voxels, and maybe the code
SuicideNeil  [author] 2 Jan, 2022 @ 8:09am
Yeah, but SE isn't that kind of game- it's voxel based so we have to live within the limitations... or suffer Lord Clang's wrath as I have done several times...
sethharpenger 30 Dec, 2021 @ 7:53pm
could be fixed if there was either block consolidation or planular (point to point) hull creation
MADhorseKD 11 Nov, 2021 @ 11:39am
Aw dang :p
Still a great job though :)
Wish SE had a better engine. Especially for planet vehicles
SuicideNeil  [author] 11 Nov, 2021 @ 9:14am
@MADhorseKD- yeah, sorry about that; this ship is so detailed and large it exceeds the shape limit of the game so half the blocks have no physics collision anymore ( not something that can be turned off, hard-coded into the game as such ).
MADhorseKD 10 Nov, 2021 @ 2:47pm
Just tried pasting this beauty. I was meaning to build it myself but this version is far beyond what i could manage to build on my own ^^'. I love it.
Though all square blocks and thrusters are non solid for some reason? (i did turn the block limit off)
dragonsphotoworks 8 Mar, 2021 @ 4:41am
This is how i like to build size wise lol Sad to hear engine cant handle it. Hope if is a SE 2 that it can handle larger builds then this. Great job though on it.
SuicideNeil  [author] 5 Mar, 2018 @ 11:16am
It would probably lag slightly less, but there is nothing you can do about the limitations of the physics engine- too many blocks causes them to start losing their collision physics, regardless of being a station or ship. I look forward to SE 2 with a better physics engine too.... :-/
Michiko 4 Mar, 2018 @ 6:49pm
suicideneil have tried making it a station, and not a ship... ? I wonder if it would work beter as a staion.
Michiko 4 Mar, 2018 @ 6:45pm
Awsome job, just wish I could play with it in game. And to think thats not even 1:1, I really wished they would change the engine to something that can handle large biulds. V_V
SuicideNeil  [author] 18 Sep, 2017 @ 11:07am
I built it using 8GB... upgraded to a better CPU & 16GB of ram recently however and things do run a bit better...
Lankycaptain 17 Sep, 2017 @ 2:41am
This ship would require a computer with like 60 gigabytes of ram!
Flatvia 14 Sep, 2017 @ 3:19am
Damn I like this. I was planning on building that shipyard too but it was such a daunting project so I just stopped.
Uriel Simmons a.k.a. Lanski 13 Sep, 2017 @ 1:50am
I won't download or even try to use this ... but you surely got my upvote for this really detailed build of the shipyard :)
Zimmerman 9 Sep, 2017 @ 10:00pm
OMG THIS THING IS SO BBBBBBBBIIIIIIIIIIGGGGGGGGGGGGGG
kaoughj 30 Aug, 2017 @ 5:45am

INSANE
Captain Roman S'Jet 28 Jun, 2017 @ 7:24pm
@suicideneil I completely understand the limitations. Either way I will make a review soon! (Sorry for advertising my channel, but it's: mustangbeauty4
SuicideNeil  [author] 28 Jun, 2017 @ 6:45pm
@Captain Roman S'Jet- you can certainly review it based on how it looks on the exterior, in terms of accuracy/ differences to the real thing, when it comes to the interior though you just have to be blunt about the limitations of the game / physics engine and the issues it causes. Similar story for the rest of my Hiigaran fleet- they are built to look nice from the outside, the interiors are mainly just functional and cramped due to lack of space and the desire to hide the thrusters in order to maintain visual accuracy...
SuicideNeil  [author] 28 Jun, 2017 @ 6:42pm
@Sevnn- I started suffering real issues placing blocks as I was nearly done smoothing the interior, by the time I started laying down coneyor blocks for the connectors in the front hanger it became obvious I had no chance of making the interior pretty ( rooms, proper decks and such ). It was near impossible to place the interior lighting without having to create huge long planes of lights that luckily intersected the wall I wanted them on, then having to grind down the extra ones that 'stuck' in places I didn't want them- same issue with a few of the conveyor pipes near the Refinery- hence why it took 6 weeks to build instead of about a month I had invisenged. Trying to slim down the ship from the blueprint I created will be tough, not sure if you can grind on armour blocks manually as would take forever by itself. I wish you luck regardless...
Captain Roman S'Jet 27 Jun, 2017 @ 1:14pm
this must've taken a long time, I'm debating wether I shoudl make a youtube vid about this or no. Suggestions?
WAAAAAGH!!! 27 Jun, 2017 @ 10:46am
you're... just INSANE!!!
karsten 27 Jun, 2017 @ 5:54am
This. Is. Genius.
Sevnn 26 Jun, 2017 @ 7:43pm
@suicideneil, Amazing work!! I'm a huge fan of your work and can't wait to see what you come up next. I'm planning to take you up on your challenge to build this in survival from blueprint and stream it, but the physics limit is concerning. I'm going back and forth between in-game and SEToolbox to try and pair down the build below the limit. I'm curious how you were able to actually build it this big with the way the physics limit hits. I've got it down a couple thousand blocks by removing all the gyros, conveyors, and turrets. Next are the tanks, reactors, and engines. Any thoughts on others steps? Due to the physics clipping issues I'm finding some areas where there are extra blocks in double+ wide walls but can't remove those until the physics starts working again.
Graydient05 26 Jun, 2017 @ 7:11pm
also, someone needs to make something just big enough so it can have an actual interior and be almost right at the engine limit, my computer would be dying but it would be worth it
Graydient05 26 Jun, 2017 @ 7:08pm
with the way this is, how in the hell did you actually build it without ten supercomputers?
Mario55770 26 Jun, 2017 @ 5:36pm
Is this danny2462's secret identity(insert strikethrough through previous statement) No. Wait. There is not enough blowing up planets for this to be him. Also, too few kerbals dying. Also probaly way more effort than he would want to destroy a game. (You wont get my comment if you dont watch his channel)
tunamansquare 26 Jun, 2017 @ 2:36pm
when you realize the "ship" is longer than a turrets max range
MaverickG 26 Jun, 2017 @ 7:43am
I am so glad you put in that it is "Game Breaking". Very thoughtful. It does look great in the pictures. :steamhappy:
HammerJuice *DEUS VULT* 26 Jun, 2017 @ 5:47am
holy shit super well made. but I dont dare download. FPS R.I.P
Dr.Craz 26 Jun, 2017 @ 4:35am
Awesome work mate, do you know if the infinity can fit in there?
Rhea.licious 25 Jun, 2017 @ 7:47pm
Oh, well that sucks.
SuicideNeil  [author] 25 Jun, 2017 @ 5:33pm
For those of you who don't understand the issue with the Physics shapes limit- read this thread: https://forum.keenswh.com/threads/1-181-0-physical-limits.7395205/ behold, knowledge!
SuicideNeil  [author] 25 Jun, 2017 @ 5:28pm
@FearenHyde- please READ THE DESCRIPTION, I'm not going to keep repeating myself when it comes to explaining why the interior of the ship is the way it is.

@nickfury- depends, you can use space master to spawn it into a survival world and use it as your starting ship, just like any easy-start world- it does function properly and is 100% survival ready.

If you try building it in survival from a projector blueprint, it might take you a few years...
SuicideNeil  [author] 25 Jun, 2017 @ 5:26pm
@ Russian bloke- English please, don't make me have to use google translate. Speaking of which, translate the description and you'll understand why there is no real interior- I swear people have poop for brains lately...

@ Defektiv- no, it's not the block limit in the game settings, it's the PHYSICS SHAPE LIMIT in the Havok physics engine!

Keen have even said so in forum posts when we questioned them about it- you can create more complex shapes or add blocks that go over the limit of the game engine, but the blocks will simply have no physics and and game will lag, which is exactly what happens when you test out my ship- you glitch through walls as if they aren't even there.

Please don't try to be clever and tell me I'm wrong when I have the facts from the developers themselves, thankyou.
nickfury 25 Jun, 2017 @ 1:27pm
Only for creativ.
Rhea.licious 25 Jun, 2017 @ 11:42am
All of the sudden I really want someone to build one of the 16km long ships form EVE Online.
FearenHyde 25 Jun, 2017 @ 11:26am
Great job but some massive rooms would have been cool just a suggestions thx XD
Therd 25 Jun, 2017 @ 10:27am
@OhHowIWishICouldAim, I love your user name
Office Hostage 25 Jun, 2017 @ 8:03am
We're gonna need a bigger boa-

Nope. We're gonna need a bigger RAM card
black 25 Jun, 2017 @ 4:18am
cool
Saber George 25 Jun, 2017 @ 12:23am
man I wanted to come up with this idea as well but this looks even better nice.,
Kleadron 24 Jun, 2017 @ 6:20pm
They used miner wars as the base for space engineers, which uses the havok engine. The fact that the engine is THAT old means that they should probably do something about it like port to a different engine.
ADM S.Spectre 24 Jun, 2017 @ 6:16pm
suicideneil i have thing to say to you................................ GOOD LOARD WHAT THE HELL HAVE YOU DONE ARE YOU TRYING TO BREAK SPACE ENGINEERRS BEFORE I CAN lol and :) this has to be the closets to the one in game.:steamhappy:
ElMoMayCrY 24 Jun, 2017 @ 1:05pm
I think keens next goal is getting 16 of these running at 60 fps with 1.00 Phy time.
Ambitious Dreamsickle 24 Jun, 2017 @ 12:48pm
im going to need more ram
Hans Krupp 24 Jun, 2017 @ 11:53am
As a BIG BIG fan of Homeworld ( own them all :p ) I thank you for this =D this is perfect ;D
SuicideNeil  [author] 24 Jun, 2017 @ 10:24am
@theredhawk97- about 2 months if all goes well... ;)
Starch 24 Jun, 2017 @ 9:44am
looks cool, havent tried it yet (probably never wil due to reports of lag) :steambored:
Vizoplez 24 Jun, 2017 @ 2:37am
@thered

Its already out - its so gamebreakingly large and it isnt on the workshop i dont think, ive seen it a couple of times
