At the time of writing, we are both a week away from finishing our degrees. And we have finally managed to clear the level. We're both elated with the experience. Thank you very much for making this level DrFauli, we have great memories working it out. We'll be trying your other puzzles, but this time without our degrees on the line xD
About 3 months and countless hours spent actually trying different progressions and we finally got it. If i had to guess I'd say about 30 hours.
(Jig)Saw would be proud. I'm gonna make people who don't even really care about Portal 2 play it just for this level.
Keep up the good work. And/or tell us any other games you've worked your magic on. *Gasp* Is it possible this is your magnum opus!?
Really loved the way you had to use portals in Room 4
I guess you got the wrong map - you can even see it on the screenshot...!
We liked the pure "portal-ness" of this map - no funnels, bridges, gels... just portals, few cubes and buttons, and your brain :) The fact that the work each player does is balanced is also great. More maps should be like this.
Considering the fact that coming up with such a map is IMO 3 times harder than solving it... DrFauli... you're a genius.
One does not simply place random portals... xD
(especially not when in a Brainteaser)
(Didn't anybody before us see or encounter that???)
Optisch sehr gelungen, inhaltlich sowieso. Fair das mit den Markierungen von 1-5. Daumen hoch natürlich :-)
Difficulty: Hard Core
Interesting way to give feedback, ... made me giggle a few times. :-)
There is no casual in this map, that part is quite true and I do agree.
I am glad you kept going, instead of giving up and in the end you
got it solved and can be proud of that - well done!
I do hope that other people will take your warning seriously.
Playing a brainteaser map in your work break = bad idea. :-D
cheers
I would rate this map: 10/10 would question reality and have a full existential crisis again.
I do hope, that you managed to enjoy the challenge and had some great moments.
Any feedback on the puzzle you want to share?
• new design with custom antlines, signages and better grating texture
• a few lighting optimizations
• made 2 rooms a bit bigger to allow easier overview
There might come more brainteaser maps in the future.
At the moment I am focusing on reworking my old map-series and adding a few casual maps.
These brainteaser maps are like a game of chess, where you have to think a few
steps ahead to win against your opponent. In this case the opponent has build a
complex puzzle, that you have to solve - step by step and by thinking far enough
ahead or at least try to plan your route and the possible portals and player positions.
If you enjoyed the complexity of the map, but you felt like you still can't solve it,
you might consider to have a look at the map for a few minutes a day and see what
new you can learn each day. Don't get frustrated by the map, but rather try to solve
it step by step, figuring out a new piece day by day and then just relax and wait a day.
Anyway - thanks for letting me know what you think. :-)
