Nice map! Not hard if you've seen the key moves before, but clever portal/cube management. Thumbs up.
qwertyg8378 16 Jul, 2024 @ 7:01pm
you can portal through the edge of glass in order to skip the first puzzle

THIS LEVEL MADE ME QUEEF:Khappy:

Also, the franken cube cannot be obtained right ? I spent about half an hour trying to get that cube before giving up.
StackSmasher789 21 May, 2022 @ 12:01am
This was just insane. Can't say I didn't enjoy it though. The fizzler placement is just perfectly annoying but leads to fairly satisfying solutions. The puzzle is more tedious than difficult. Great use of many mechanics. However, I'm not quite sure about the use of lightbridge in main room. Is it just for aesthetics ? The bridge literally goes to a blank wall without portals. The bridge could've easily been just floor ? Great job regardless

very noice map, took a while
i found another solution: first, get the irised cube. second, set the white cube next to the laser-button, in the room underground, such that, when the vertical portaliable surface deploys, it push the cube on the button. third, put a portal in the main room. fourth, stand on the edge of the auxilliary room (the one with a portaillable corner, a button, and nothing else), grab the irised cube through the barrier, and throw it into a portal put beforhand on the floor of this room. Then the irised cube is in the main room, and we are able to start the laser without loosing acces to main room, and we're done. maybe you would like to adress this, as it is probably not intended :)

Ok I finally rested up and played through again. What a great puzzle. The physics involved will throw you off if you're not expecting it. I'm mainly referring to getting the reflection cube. The last move was the thing that held me up the longest. I couldn't figure out how to preserve the portal on the exit side. I can't rate it up again but I can favorite. Thanks for such good mapping.
polaczeniezresetowane 29 Jun, 2019 @ 3:22am
It's hard to explain cuz of my poor english command, but I try...well, at the beggining when I moved first cube on the button to lift portal suface enough to jump out from it, and then oppened portals: one- on that surface, second one- on the floor below the "cube creator :)" and then I jumped into, I was flying to shortly to gain upstairs. Then I realized that oppening second portal should be done in diffrent way, I mean I should stand in opposite site and than open portal to fly enough long to land at upstairs properly. I told you: my english is terrible, so don't be too severe for me, pls. However that ittle matter seemed to me strange and unneccessary, I feel obligate to say your map gave me a plenty of pleasure and satisfaction. One more time: THANK YOU!!! Do you have more bloody masterpiece like that one???
toncica  [author] 19 Jun, 2019 @ 6:42pm
Thank you, and well done solving it. What was the strange thing?
polaczeniezresetowane 19 Jun, 2019 @ 6:42am
However, except of one strange thing, that map was one of the hardest I've ever played. Well designed. Super smart way to sollution. Just great job!
polaczeniezresetowane 17 Jun, 2019 @ 10:29am
ok ok is not unsolvable, just one part is made in silly way.
polaczeniezresetowane 17 Jun, 2019 @ 10:22am
One little question? have y tried to solve your own map before you uploaded it on steam? There is mistake which makes it unsolvable.
Libbybapa 26 Oct, 2018 @ 6:37pm
Nice! Not hard but required some good thought to solve. Thanks.
lapicidas 12 Dec, 2016 @ 3:22am
fascinatingly map!

Very good :steamhappy: Worthy map
jandlml 4 Jun, 2016 @ 9:16pm
excellent map, maybe im improving a little. finished this myself
N Twirl 17 Feb, 2016 @ 6:46am
Very nice ! Your change is a lot better.
toncica  [author] 17 Feb, 2016 @ 6:22am
Thanks for the suggestion. The changeable portal surface connected to the laser button used to be in the intermediate room. I have restored that now. That means the antline target is not in direct sight, which is less ideal, but that should force the fizzler move. The change is visible in the preview picture.
N Twirl 17 Feb, 2016 @ 6:12am
Hello again. I thought about your map last night :). I really think that you should force your nice fizzler move at the end. To do so, you could remove the second portable surface in the second room when lazer is activated. You could have a portable surface underneath the platform instead (that could be there the whole time i guess). It would prevent a jump back to the main room from the intermediate room. . Could it work ?
N Twirl 16 Feb, 2016 @ 7:07am
Nice to hear ! I'll check the other maps then :)
toncica  [author] 16 Feb, 2016 @ 7:01am
Thanks. That's cool, as long as you do the yoyo move it's fine. Thanks for playing. :)

As for other maps of this "caliber", many of my maps are actually quite harder. Turret Challenge is usually well received and shouldn't be more difficult than this one.
N Twirl 16 Feb, 2016 @ 6:36am
Yes, I just watched the walkthrough and mine differs a bit from it. I don't destroy the companion cube to get it past the fizzler in the second room. Instead, I portal it, therfefore loosing my portal in the main room (I have 1 portal in the "intermediate room" and 1 in the second room). Then I do the "yoyo thing" to get the companion cube on the button which activates the lazer, keeping my portal in the "intermediate room". I go back to this room with the lazer cube, and thanks to it get to create a portal in the main room, to end the map . Small variation, wanted to let you know :)
toncica  [author] 16 Feb, 2016 @ 6:28am
If you had played the map in 2012 when I first published it, that would have been an option. But that was not intended and I (hopefully) have fixed all unintended solutions. Above is the solution video to compare, let me know if your solution differs from that.
N Twirl 16 Feb, 2016 @ 6:13am
Very nice map ! Congratulations ! Few surfaces and much Thinking.
I don't know if it was intended but I was expecting to use the bottom fizzler at the entrance in the second room to destroy the companion cube when it drops from the cube dropper (as we used the fizzler in the main room basically) . It was missleading and therefore made it difficult but it would have been so nice to use it that way :)
If you have other maps of the same caliber to advise, I would gladly take them !
toncica  [author] 18 Nov, 2015 @ 5:37pm
Yo, thanks for playing and for the feedback. I'm glad you enjoyed it. In my opinion a puzzle has to be intellectually challenging, there's no room for cube tossing, trick shots or death defying moments. Sometimes the execution can take some skill though, but in general I try to make it in a way that even the average player could - theoretically - solve it. This wasn't an easy one, therefore I say well played. :)
dire.fcs 7 Aug, 2015 @ 11:22am
lol I just noticed the previous comment I posted :)
toncica  [author] 7 Aug, 2015 @ 10:43am
I really don't want to delete any comments. You take care of the spoiler business yourself if you want to. ;)
dire.fcs 7 Aug, 2015 @ 8:53am
I see you introduced a glass near the catcher and put the dropper a bit higher; I think it would catch more attention to that area too;{spoiler] the first time I played I never went close to the door area, because I noticed the catcher and my only concern was to get the beam laser [/spoiler]. I forgot to use some spoiler tags before, so if you want to delete any comment, it's ok to me.
toncica  [author] 7 Aug, 2015 @ 5:52am
Ok, I changed it a bit, should be hard to miss now. Thanks.
dire.fcs 6 Aug, 2015 @ 11:05pm
The grating(s) envolving the standard dropper mislead my view, because I did that room just like your video, and my concerns came when I needed the reflector to be able to pass that funnel area, and the another grating came to mislead my view, (and since I didn't see it the first time I enter in the room, it can only got a little 'worse'); then I checked the video (only saw the video until that part btw) just to see that alcove was what I was missing (until then was pretty much as you did); ok maybe my bad a little, but I think the lighting didn't help me very much, but as you say, any change could be too much handholdind. That place is an important part of the map so I felt like it could be more visible. This is the first map of yours I play that is 'small' and 'tight', I'm used to play yours maps with excellent view layout, so it maybe influenced my playing here too.
toncica  [author] 6 Aug, 2015 @ 3:52pm
Thanks for the feedback. How do you feel about missing that alcove? I fought with myself about putting a light there directly but I was afraid it would be too much hand holding and it's not like it's invisible. On the other hand that shouldn't be the reason to look up the walkthrough so I could change that if necessary.
dire.fcs 6 Aug, 2015 @ 2:35pm
Another winner; I missed (didn't noticed ) that alcove two blocks high bhind the standard dropper, so I had to see the video; after that all became clearer, because was impossible to manage the funnel area with just one cube. Nice work with portaling. No exploits, really consistent maps. Thumbs up.
Ganymede 17 May, 2015 @ 8:37pm
Btw, that is a really bright hallway!
Ganymede 1 Jan, 2015 @ 12:04am
I really liked the introduction of this map. It setup the main part in the middle quite well.

This really is a map about counting your height. Certain parts of the puzzle require certain amounts of momentum. The whole puzzle is about how to achieve the exact height that you need.

I managed to get the redirection cube. I needed a slight hint for the last part but I solved enough of it myself to consider it a victory. I knew all the major moves including the yo-yo move . The only trick I missed was standing on the other side of the fizzler when grabbing the cube to fizzle it. That was quite tricky.

This is going down as one of my favorite maps.
Daoud Baba 29 Dec, 2014 @ 3:20am
After rechecking your video i saw that the portals was at the same place than me... Sorry
toncica  [author] 28 Dec, 2014 @ 4:06am
But... that was the exact same thing at the end. Doesn't matter that you shot the portal elsewhere, unless you came to this point in a different way it was the intended solution.

Here my exiting : {LINK REMOVED}
toncica  [author] 26 Dec, 2014 @ 1:40pm
Noobs do the most complex solutions? :D
Let me know what you did, maybe I can do something against it.
Daoud Baba 26 Dec, 2014 @ 8:51am
Ok, after checking your video, i did unintended but much more complex....like a noob !
Daoud Baba 26 Dec, 2014 @ 8:45am
I'm just escaped from Arkham asylum (look my profile if you don't believe me) and for a crazy tester like me, i found this test like a must play ! I have recorded a demo of my final moves in the case where i don't did intended but i think it is !
toncica  [author] 22 Oct, 2014 @ 3:51am
I'm curious about your "longer" way and would like to see your recording. If making a video is too much trouble you can record a demo or illustrate your solution with screenshots. There's one alternative move I can see that would fit your description but it wouldn't really make the solution longer.
Kyzka 22 Oct, 2014 @ 2:08am
wow just watched the walk through you did quite a few things quicker than I was doing them. Well done... I was doing the yoyo trick from inside the second section on the second level. It still works from there, just takes a lot longer...
Kyzka 22 Oct, 2014 @ 1:47am
I've actually just worked it out. map just froze on me as I successfully did the laser catcher thing. Was doing the yoyo trick in the wrong way. Ill see if i can get through it long enough to record.
toncica  [author] 21 Oct, 2014 @ 8:11pm
Sorry to hear that, hope you fix your problems. I don't think it's the map though, it's rather small with few elements and the solution isn't very long. I've just added a walkthrough if you want to take a peek.
Kyzka 21 Oct, 2014 @ 7:19pm
Unfortunately cant solve it, theres something wrong with my game and it keeps crashing on long portal peti maps and this is a long one. Worked out how to get both cubes over to the other section just not how to get the cube on the button without it trapping you in section 2. I know it has something to do with the yoyo move and I know what a yoyo move is, just cant see how it helps with this one. Theres a lot going back and forth, which is ok if there was not a long distance. Good map, just long. If my game ever gets fixed might take another look at it on someone elses computer.
toncica  [author] 29 Jun, 2014 @ 11:38am
Well, I've tested it with a cube button and it was even worse, meaning the exploit was easier to do. Instead I made a different change to prevent that.
taplonaplo 27 Jun, 2014 @ 8:23pm
No idea, i didn't know i could bump objects even when they don't actually clip the portal before today either. If i had to guess i'd say it's much harder to find a spot where a cube stays still so it doesn't get kicked into the fizzler when you bring down the wall for the 2nd time if it was cube button.
toncica  [author] 27 Jun, 2014 @ 8:09pm
Damn those cheeky portal physics. :D
I don't feel like doing something against it, but do you think it would have also worked if it was a cube button?
taplonaplo 27 Jun, 2014 @ 7:52pm
Well, to make up for it, here's some sketchy portal usage to do the final part way harder than you'd do normally... also the reason why i lost my cubes in the first place :P

Phew! I had trouble imagining how that could be remotely possible. You go around scaring people, I've seen your comment on cyhborg's Bleached just now. ;)
