yeah, doesn't work for me either. very cool idea though, I hope it can be fixed
AkumatheDarkOne 12 Jan, 2023 @ 9:08pm
Doesn't seem to work. I spoke with the mage in windhelm and nothing I even used the mod's name with the help command to simply just throw one into my inventory and it didn't show up
Astor 26 Jul, 2019 @ 2:44pm
causes my game to crash on startup
Matt_Vlindrel  [author] 12 Jun, 2018 @ 3:42am
No problem :) It has been a fair while since I have been on this page haha.
jcnicky3256 9 Jun, 2018 @ 7:26pm
Great mod, I hate hunting , and the light goes out when you need it most, thank you.
Quadriceps 21 Feb, 2017 @ 1:25am
great mod only wish i had all the dlc.
Matt_Vlindrel  [author] 24 Jan, 2016 @ 5:23pm
Thanks, yeah that would have been a cool idea. Not sure how I would pull something like that off, in this case it was pretty easy to get working because I just used the default candlelight spell effect but not sure about changing the position of the light source. Good suggestion though!
SpaceCowboy 18 Jan, 2016 @ 11:36am
I think it should have looked even better if the light actually came from the diamond but, hey, it's only my point of view. Great job anyway and it's a great idea to begin with.
TheVoidObserver 25 Oct, 2015 @ 12:39pm
im sure alot more people will subscribe if you took off DLC
Matt_Vlindrel  [author] 25 Oct, 2015 @ 1:12am
unfortunately, it is one of those things when you turn it on once it permanently requires it. At least that is what I have found, the only other option I can think of is remaking the mod itself
TheVoidObserver 24 Oct, 2015 @ 1:21pm
can you please make it so it doesnt require dlc
Matt_Vlindrel  [author] 22 Oct, 2015 @ 12:20am
yeah sorry about that, it was a noob mistake on my part when I was turning making the mod to begin with
TheVoidObserver 21 Oct, 2015 @ 10:54pm
I wish this didnt require any dlc it would be easier on me
Dickhole Ant Farm 22 Sep, 2015 @ 7:20pm
How do I get the ring?
Matt_Vlindrel  [author] 10 Aug, 2015 @ 5:11am
Thanks! yeah the ring does come in handy for those super dark lighting mods
Lampros 9 Aug, 2015 @ 9:10am
Awesome - now I can install various lighting mods without being blind in caves and indoors.
kentyro 19 Apr, 2015 @ 12:56pm
very helpful-the warm ring casts enough light to aid navigation and things still look fairly natural-thank you!
Matt_Vlindrel  [author] 3 Jan, 2015 @ 4:02pm
Unfortuanatally I've been a bit distracted with studies and work so this mod has been at a stand still. I would like to go back to it and fix up that issue and add more stuff but I'm not sure when that will be. I would like to go back to it soon though.
Lio Kizer 2 Jan, 2015 @ 5:27pm
Are you still working on a version of this that does not require DLC?
Matt_Vlindrel  [author] 20 Dec, 2014 @ 3:36pm
well I'm glad you got around the issue, good luck with the rest of your playthrough
Shadow 20 Dec, 2014 @ 11:54am
i guess it's a glitch with the quest because if i save when i finish the quest its fixed if i reload the game.
Matt_Vlindrel  [author] 20 Dec, 2014 @ 3:52am
I'm sorry but I can't help you there, that problem could be anything, potentially that could be a game glitch unrelated to the mod. Since this mod uses no scripts and it just uses the content from the game itself, it might be a different mod or just a glitch with the quest. I would recommend loading to an earlier save and trying the quest again.
Shadow 18 Dec, 2014 @ 11:20am
for some reason it won't make a candle light at the thalmore embassy and infact an't even use my spell candle light in the thalmore embassay quest for skyrims main quest series and even after that. WTH?
Matt_Vlindrel  [author] 16 Dec, 2014 @ 6:14pm
I just loaded up skyrim, typed in "help left" and the first two things under the ARMO: section were both the candlellight rings. If they are not showing up then that likely means the mod didn't install properly. (P.S page up and page down for navagating in the concole command if you don't already know)
Shadow 16 Dec, 2014 @ 10:23am
still can't find the rings in console commands. would be nice if i could find it by typing "help "ring of candlelight"" but nope. doesn't appear.
Shadow 12 Dec, 2014 @ 6:53pm
can't find the ring useing console commands.
Baskerville 24 Sep, 2014 @ 5:31am
What would be really neat is if the enchantments had different names, so you can more easily choose which to use (I have warm for myself and cold for Jenassa... it seemed in-character for her).
Matt_Vlindrel  [author] 17 May, 2014 @ 5:52am
Thanks, ;) plan on adding some new things too, like a fire, frost and lighting version. Got them working except for the frost version which needs a bit more work.
Baskerville 15 May, 2014 @ 3:49am
This looks like you've made some brill improvements since I last had time to play Skyrim (other commitments and a broken computer, alas). Great idea on the 'warm' option.
Vagrant 19 Jan, 2014 @ 10:14pm
This mod is glorious. I use Climates of Tamriel which makes nights darker and I used to spam Candlelight like crazy. Never again.
TrixyTrixter 31 Dec, 2013 @ 9:22am
forget it it worked again i just had to wait 1 hour at a time untill he did it.
TrixyTrixter 31 Dec, 2013 @ 9:16am
Wuuferth won't sell me anything at all only train me in destruction help!!
Matt_Vlindrel  [author] 13 Dec, 2013 @ 8:01pm
Nice glad you figured it out! Also, no I think I did see another candlelight ring mod somewhere but that one is not mine.
Blue-Sky8289 13 Dec, 2013 @ 12:36pm
Vlindrel.... have sorted it!!! I found it was because I had an ESP with the same name, which was another candlelight ring MOD. Is that yours also? The one that is planted on the table in your first room in the College of Winterhold. But that one just works when you put the ring on your finger, and is not unenchantable

I deleted that ESP and yours straight away downloaded and put it self in my load order

I opted for this one because it sounds better.....

Cheers :)
Matt_Vlindrel  [author] 10 Dec, 2013 @ 10:35pm
Good to be appreciated ;), I had the same problem when using enbs, that's basically why I made it in the first place.
♥-StayPuff- Marshmello♥ 10 Dec, 2013 @ 5:24pm
Thanks for the mod, I have this light mod and outdoors it looks amazing but indoors it's really dark so I keep having to use Mage light and that gets annoying. So thanks :D
Matt_Vlindrel  [author] 23 Nov, 2013 @ 2:56am
hmm that is really strange

If you havent already try unsubscribing then close steam and re-open and re-subscribe.

It may also be worth doing a search in skyrims data folder for the candlelightring.esp or any files with its name. Then either delete or move them out of the folder and then go back to the skyrim launcher to see if it downloads.

But otherwise I'm not completly sure, it sounds like the laucher is simply not picking up the mod.
Blue-Sky8289 22 Nov, 2013 @ 6:53am
For some reason this MOD will not download for me. I have hit the subscribe button and have subscribed to other MOD's since, all of which have downloaded and installed in the game.... but this one has STILL not shown up, even after a month.... yet it istill says subrcided. Any ideas as to what may have happened? Cheers
CrystalLilacs 21 Aug, 2013 @ 10:11am
cool mod but at present I don't have dawnguard nor dragonborn
Baskerville 12 May, 2013 @ 5:44am
Thanks for adding the Dawnguard warning to the description. As for ideas for fixing that, I'm not sure except to try asking on some modding forums. Best of luck!
Matt_Vlindrel  [author] 12 May, 2013 @ 4:58am
And also thanks for pointing out that problem I will make sure to include it in the description.
Matt_Vlindrel  [author] 12 May, 2013 @ 4:56am
Hmm, Unfortunately I don't think it is possible to remove the dlc (however I could easily be wrong) as I have searched but cannot find a solution to remove the dlc from the mod itself. I am sorry for the inconvenience but the only option I could see is completely remaking the mod. Unless of course you know how to fix the problem I am unable to help.

Does it say there is a spell coming from the ring still even after you unique it? Or is the glowing effect simply appearing. It could be possible you have a second ring equipped (as the ring itself is technically not in an armour slot due to mod compatibility in other words it is possible to equip more than one at a time)
DarkHelmet88 12 May, 2013 @ 4:15am
I have all the DLC for skyrim and I have no problems at all but the one problem i do have is that when i do take the ring off the ball of light is still there
Baskerville 11 May, 2013 @ 2:51am
Hello. Your mod made my game fail to start and CTD. I traced the problem through TES5Edit, and found candlelightring.esp now has a dependency on Dawnguard, which I don't own. Hope this is helpful, both in fixing it and for others experiencing problems.
Matt_Vlindrel  [author] 21 Feb, 2013 @ 3:48am
It dosen't affect alteration as it is simply an enchantment not a spell.
Darkwings [NL] 19 Feb, 2013 @ 3:13pm
does it improve the "alteration" perk? I wouldn't mind but I'd still call it cheating though =P superb mod though I was 'specificaly' looking for this one ^^, ye be praised!
LHAV 14 Feb, 2013 @ 3:32pm
I find useing Steam's Verify Integrity Cache sets up the load order of my mods properly to working condition and helps for mods that may have inadvertently removed something that should not have been removed i'v over 70+ mods and it's helped keep things running smooth.
Matt_Vlindrel  [author] 9 Feb, 2013 @ 8:46pm
It sounds like a compatibility issue with other mods, I have tried cleaning up the mod and removing things that may have clashed, not sure if it helped.
Make sure that you are also familiar with load orders as they can influence what is overwritten if there are clashes.
There are programs that can help with load orders like the nexus mod manager, if you don't have it already.
Otherwise if this does not help there is a program which you can use to find out what is clashing in the mod specifically, named Tes5edit. (Mainly used to clean up mods)

Here is a tutorial for tes5edit if all else fails:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=UOQO2S6HDBw

Sorry about the problem I’ll keep an eye out for things that might fix it if it persists.
itsyouilike 7 Feb, 2013 @ 10:49pm
Used to love this, but I had the same issue as Shadowarrior47, it crashes before the game gets to the menu
Bard Beater 20 Jan, 2013 @ 10:27pm
So i used this mod for a while and really loved how useful it was, but i started to have issues with my game. Whenever i tried to start skyrim it would get to the main menu and the crash to steam immediatly. after going through and turning on all my mods one by one, i determined that this mod was the only one that was causing the crash. Any advice? i really liked this mod.
