ATTENTION TO ALL TALOS MODDERS! THOSE WHO INSTALLED THE PUBLIC BETA UPDATE!
ATTENTION MODDERS/MAP CREATORS! THOSE WHO INSTALLED THE PUBLIC BETA UPDATE!

Due to optimization of the engine to better handle the puzzle items and mechanics, there have been a large change made to the engine. THIS CHANGE WILL MAKE EVERY CUSTOM MAP TO CRASH WHEN PLAYED IN THE GAME.

To fix it, please follow these easy steps:

1. Load your map/maps.

2. In the console below (local), write the following: edtConvertGenericItemsToItems() and hit enter.

3. After a small bit of loading, it should mention that a number of items are converted. Save your maps, and upload a patch to the workshop.

4. IF YOUR EDITOR CRASHES DURING CONVERSION, IT MEANS THAT YOU CREATED CUSTOM ITEMS (like custom connectors or jammers or hexahedrons). YOU HAVE TO CHANGE THOSE MANUALLY TO THE NEW "Carriable Item", "Connector", "Fan Item", "Jammer", "Platform Item", "Axe" entities!

Please do this before this version goes live!

Done. Thanks for the heads-up.

I can't actually open my maps. :( The editor says that an error has occured and then it crashes.

When I load the editor, I also get the message:
"Error obtaining data for workshop package 00000000159e3e0e!"

Maybe that is related?

That might be related, yes. It seems something ef'd up your "internal workshop". Try to unsubscribe from all workshop items you have and then delete the workshop folder of the game, and that might fix it.

I tried that, and it was unsuccessful. I then reverted back to the last stable build.

Strangely, I get the same message, but now I am able to edit my maps. Strange bug.

Also, if you don't mind me asking, will verifying my game cache erase the maps I have been working on? Would backing up my files be a good idea?

Shouldn't erase your maps, but make a backup to be sure.

Hmm well now my worshop folder won't even retun after a cache verification. I guess I'll have to redownload the game. Thanks for the help anyways.
