Modding tools guide
I'll post all my notes from making 'Survival' here. This is a very rough draft, I'll try to update it and make it clearer in time.

Edit: I moved the guide to his own section. You can still use this thread to ask any questions regarding the modding tools.

What's mean of "Dweller: 1: 1.5//+3d// 2:0.75 //+6d// 3:0.3 //+16d// 4:0 5:0"?
If I wish the 6th dweller join shelter between 10 to 20 day,how do I set?

You cannot set a range for dwellers, they always come after a defined amount of days.

"1: 1.5 //+3d//" means, when you have only one dweller in your shelter, you gain 1.5 points each day. Treshold is 5 by default, meaning another dweller may join after 3 days (5 / 1.5 = 3.33)

"2:0.75 //+6d//" When you have two of them, daily points gained is 0.75, meaning a third dweller may join 6 days after you got the second one (or if you started with two, from day 1), and so on...

If you want up to 6 dwellers, all you need is change the dweller cap to 6 in Main Config and then change the daily points gained in "Visits config -- Visit Types -- dweller join info -- DailyPointsGainsWithDwellers" like this :

0:0
1:1.5
2:0.5
3:0.6 //4th dweller after 8 days instead of 16
4:0.5 //5th dweller 10 days after you got the 4th one
5:0.4 //6th dweller 12 days after you got the 5th one
6:0 //to prevent from getting more dwellers after the 6th
7:0 //same as above (TLO added parents and kids joining at the same time)

That's the values I used in Survival, any more than 12 days, and most of the time you will only reach the limit after 40 days, which is more than most scenarios.

I changed the survivor cap to eight, but I can still only select four survivors. All I did was go into Main config -- Misc -- DwellerCap = 8, but nothing changed in custom scenarios.

EDIT: Just kidding! It worked! I got a new survivor on Day 10

The survivor cap just tells the game that's the max survivors you can have. It's not how many you start with etc.

Ah, I see. Is it possible to change how many you start with? If that's not possible, is it possible for custom characters to come to the shelter, and is it possible to make a certian character (e.g. Bob) come at a certain day?

Under Visits config -- Visit Types -- dweller join info -- DailyPointsGainsWithDwellers, you have the number of points gained daily based on the current number of dwellers inside the shelter.

By befault, you only need 5 points, but can't have more than 4 dwellers (0 points / day after that). So what you want to do is add new values for whatever max. number of dwellers you want.

In my post above, there's the values I used in my mod, i.e. 6 dwellers max. in less than 40 days.

No, custom characters can only be selected at the start of a custom scenario. They cannot join the shelter normally. But with an increased dweller cap, you could start with your custom characters and have the default ones join instead.

I followed everything in the post, set it 6, changed the dweller points thing, and put the mod in the game, but now it's day nine and no new survivor showed up, just the trader. Is it because I started with four survivors or I have a child with custom characters? I'll update if they come at Day 10-12.

Try changing "DailyPointsVisitTreshold" in Visits config to 3-4, it will increase visitor frequency.
I increased it to 7 in the mod so quests aren't all done by day 50, and that also make new characters come less often, like every 12-18 days or so.

I've updated the guide with the new characters/locations from Fading Embers for anyone interested. You can easily edit the starting characters with new ones in Scenario config -- DwellerSets. The shelters can be added in Main config -- Game Config -- HomeSceneNames so they are randomly chosen at start. As for the locations, they can be added to any map pack in Scavenge locations config but most of them are scripted so it's not ideal.

For modders already familiar with the modding tools, I've added the new features I've found when updating my mods. You can now for example move to another shelter mid-game or block certain locations for a period of time. Both features are quite nice to make interesting scenarios.

Tools limitations
What you cannot do with the current tools: ..... add inventory slots (removed with TLO),...
You mean they remove that modding capability on purpose?

^Maybe not on purpose, but it was always an unused feature (debug bag item) and now it no longer works. If you ask me, they should just give us the option to edit the character's skills already, along with their inventory size. Instead we got stack size mods to do that.
