Report a translation problem
The way the game renders textures is to blame. Dark colors tend to have visible artificating on them for whatever reason (this is really evident on things like the armored transports). I tend to stick with lighter colors for that reason.

I also manually adjust my patterns in photoshop while alt-tabbing back and forth.
Also keep in mind that some patterns require to be stretched in a specific way to show up normally on a gun.
