Skinning help needed
Ok so im fairly new to skinning weapons and have a couple questions.

First off is there anything special you need to do for patterns to get them symmetrical on both sides of the gun or will it never be 100% symmetrical?

Second Question is, why does black not look black on patterns? I messed with the pattern gradient template file for the colors of orange, white, and black, but black comes out as a really thick dark red-brown almost like dried blood color.

For this you'd actually have to extract the files to check how the gun texture was set up, so that you could try to align your pattern/sticker. The alternative is painful trial and error. It's not very intuitive, unfortunately.

The way the game renders textures is to blame. Dark colors tend to have visible artificating on them for whatever reason (this is really evident on things like the armored transports). I tend to stick with lighter colors for that reason.

That wouldn't necessarily help, the textures are never 1:1

I use this: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/workshop/discussions/18446744073709551615/360670708795804979/?appid=218620
Links might be dead, but if you're still interested add me on steam and i'll reupload them for you.
I also manually adjust my patterns in photoshop while alt-tabbing back and forth.

Also keep in mind that some patterns require to be stretched in a specific way to show up normally on a gun.
