Edit: partly the problem, Ill come back later and send you a fixed copy of the pattern and gradient.
edit edit: Had a bunch of trouble with your pattern but from the looks of it your green layer was only looking for 1 color and your red layer was cutting out the darker part of the pattern making it not so much wooden and picking up your base gradient.
You need to make the green channel look up 0-255 light to dark or dark to light depending on your pattern gradient and have 255 in the red channel or else it cuts out your pattern and shows base gradient, not the best for skins.
I also noticed the blue channel was backwards making dark parts reflect more light than lighter parts, works the opposite way irl because dark absorbs light.
