Workshop content, compatibility with co-op?

Hey, I'm pretty new to the workshop, just came back to play SR4 because of it.

I'm here to ask two things:

How's the compatibility with the workshop and co-op, and how does it work at all?
Do the items of the workshop REPLACE or ADD content to the stores?

I am aware that they add content to the stores, but not the compatibility

By this you mean it won't replace anything?

About the compatibility I may just test it out

As far as I know, only one of the mods I've seen replaces an item (deadpool mask). They are, however, reskinned "clones", keeping the original item, but using it as a base. For example, there's a flamethrower guitar that's a reskinned flamethrower, but you can still use the original flamethrower due to how the modding process works.
