Mod request: alternative for quick transfer item
Ok so I'm having an issue with my shift button on my Mac..using a controller... you might have read it in another thread... I've worked my way around it mostly, but the only thing I can't fix is my shift+click to transfer items quickly... could someone make a mod that allows me to quick-sell or quicktransfer items between inventories besides the shift button?? Another key on the keyboard, or change right click to transfer/sell instead of equip? It's more annoying to drag an entire inventory using a controller than to do it for a few pieces I'm equipping.. thanks!

Or maybe a mod that makes all items go to my pet inventory first?

I have posted your request on Torchmodders.com to expand this further!

http://torchmodders.com/forums/modding-questions/is-it-possible-to-change-the-function-of-shift-to-a-different-key/msg7459/?topicseen#new

I hope you don't mind!

Not at all! Thanks very much! Either solution would be great... hand transfering the few i want to save and then selling all from my pet inventory is even better than what ive got! lol

A mod might be able to let the Shift hotkey to be changed to another or a direct file editing might also change this (check documents/runic games/torchlight ii/saves/settings.txt or something like that). I have to check this later when I get home.

Ok, either of those sounds awesome. I'm new to this whole thing, and Steam is really user friendly when it comes to applying a mod, so any additional instructions on how to do this would be awesome!

In windows, the directory is like this: C:\Users\YourAccName\Documents\My Games\Runic Games\Torchlight 2\save\XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX\settings.txt

Inside the settings.txt are the assigned default keys

The shift key function is this:
KEYMAP_HOLDPOS :16

P.S. I have not tried changing this myself, if this does not work for you, then we will try the mod possible solution.

@ doudley: Thanks for this info and your involvement!

I have to say that many other players from the General Discussions including myself are interested in this possibility of changing the Shift key functions over to another source!

hi doudley, it's the mac thats giving me the issue, not the PC, what would i do for mac? If not, I will probably need the mod option. Thanks again! And I'm glad there's interest steffire!

Doudley was telling you what file you need to modifiy, and where it's located for PC users, in the hopes that Mac users would have a similar location.

The easiest way to find your settings.txt file is to open your Steam Library, right clickt on Torchlight 2, select Properties, go to the Local Files tab, and select Browse Local Files...

After that, go to My Games/Runic Games/Torchlight 2/Save/[NUMERIC STEAM USER ID] and open settings_sdl2.txt. Note that if you're using Mods, you'll need to replace /Save/ with /Modsave/ to find the right file to edit.

Thanks Kheldarn for the clarification and additional info.

Unfortunately, settings.txt hack doesn't work. Also, as it turns out, "Hold Position" keybind can be naturally changed in-game but the problem is that the Quick Transfer Item function has a different keybind and not related to "Shift" keybind. So what we need to change is the "Shift+LMB" keybind but it is not found in-game, in the game folder, or anywhere in the mod-able files.

We might have to consider the possibility that the only workaround to this, is by a 3rd party program that will able to redirect "Shift" key function for you.

But if you already have a way to a controller, why can't you just simply use the controller's button to "Shift+Click" things, unless there's no way to do that in a Mac?

Here's my setup for my custom controller profile

Unfortunately the shift button is the issue altogether. I did change the binding for "stand in place" to another key, which fixed the issue when attacking from a distance, but when trying to quick transfer the items. that "secret" binding can't be changed! Well that stinks. Thanks very much for doing what you did though!
