To be super honest, I'm kinda desperate for a mod that offer more stacking but that work with the new DLC (Father's promise) Nothing work. At all.

I think the DLC disables mods which is why they won't work. Until the developers fix this, there is nothing anyone can do.

Start new game with more than 1 child?

Also I tried to create a mod that replaces the default ugly bed with the hospital bed. I got it working but the hospital bed is unusable. My modding experience is low.

How do you edit characters with the modding tools btw? I can't seem to find it anywhere in the editor. I wanted to edit inventory slots.

Thanks for your 2x start materials mod btw. Love it.

You can't edit the characters, or at least not the way you think. There is Archetypes config to edit some of the character stats like move speed and health, but that's very basic and not that useful.

Ah that's too bad. Can you make a mod that replaces the default bed? I got stuck on an unworking hospital bed. It is placable/buildable though.

I didn't try but I don't think it's possible. The game probably check for an animation which does not exist or something, and since you cannot edit animations.. well you know the rest.

No you can't replace the normal bed with the hospital bed. I have tried. As you said you can build it but it can't be used like a normal bed. Characters will still lie on it on their own though sometimes. It seems alot of the functionality behind items is hardcoded into that specific item.

Hmmm I guess we'll have to wait for more extensive mod support or someone who is good at game-hacking. Would be a non-workshop release in the latter case I think. I got more than 4 dwellers working. Also increased the spawn chance for up to 8. Do you know of a way to have more than 4 at game-start?

Also, I am very curious about your upcoming 'the 100' mod.

I wish the mod tools were a little better. I have so many ideas but unable to execute them. I haven't played around with Dwellers much. I can take a look.

As far as the 100 mod, it's basically a new scenario with quite alot of stuff in the game changed. Therefore, won't be able to use any other mods with it as it changes alot of things. Taking quite a while because there is alot of writing to do. There will be new music, quests, items etc. And I want to make it a little harder also. Still working out all the details but am getting there.

I just wish we could change models so I can make things fit the theme a little more.

It's quite easy to start off with however many dwellers you want. First, ensure you have set the cap to whatever you want under Main Config, then to start with more dwellers, find the dweller set under scenarios config you want to modify and under dweller templates, add the other dwellers you want. I tested it and works fine. I just tested starting with 6. You can refer to the modding instructions for the correct templates/characters.

Thanks, I will look into this! And I love the idea of your new mod. Will definitly try it as soon as it's done! Then again, that might be a while. Sounds like a lot of alterations that need to be done.

Also, I hope the devs drasticly improve the modding capabilities in a future update. Right now it kinda ties your hands on a lot of stuff.

Btw, does the scenario more dwellers alteration also work for a custom scenario?

Not sure about customer scenarios. I never play around with them.

No you cannot start with more than 4 dwellers, or make the war lasts more than 80 days for that matter. But if you changed the dweller cap correctly, more will join and you can change the values so they do very early (e.g 4:5; 5:5; 6:5 so someone join every day until you have 7 characters)

Yeah I found peace with a 8 dweller cap. More is not manageable imho. With a 3.5, 3, 2.5 etc points gain rate. It works very well. Also disabled the child present requirements for all children and couples with children. This does not spawn too many children btw. Then again it can be possible. Kinda random.

I just want to thank both of your for all you info. It helped me understand modding this game better as I am just a beginner. It's not often that people take the time to explain something to people. So again thanks for sharing your knowledge!

Fun fact. When I first released my mod, I disabled all children dependencies too then someone made a playthrough of it and was unlucky enough to start with Christo and Iskra, have another kid show up then again another... Two of them left the shelter a few days in... It was funny to watch but probably a bit less for him. He still managed to win that game though :steammocking:

Edit: I found the video, so good to watch that part again lol (@01:45:17 - 8th Day)

Edit2: And now I remember why it happened. Kids don't count as true dwellers for the game. If you start with Christo, Iskra doesn't count and another character will join earlier than it should, and if it's a kid well he won't count either and so on. See, you need to take that into account and not make the same mistake I did.
