Update Mod Problem
Hi,

Out of the many items I uploaded, 2 in particular are now not allowing me to make updates anymore, instead if the "Update to Steam" now I have "Send to Steam" and if pressed it publishes a new mod but still both of them are linked together acting as one.
It says the mods belong to me, but the updated part is de-synced or something.

Deleted all data, game, mods, profiles, checked the mods themselfs.. nothing, same problem.
I suspect its a steam problem but idk.

Did anyone have this problem before?

The STEAM_ID in the filename/file doesn't match yours anymore. Which means something got messed up somewhere. You'll probably have to create a new mod/addon and just copy the files from the messed up one to the new one then update it again. Making sure of course to take down the messed up one on steam so you can replace it.

<FILENAME/NAMEOFMODADDON>_<STEAM_ID>.pak

Yes, i have verified all steam id entries every file, everything looked good, now here is the fun part, just now I deleted both mods from steam workshop and from my pc, I published the new ones and everything looked good, after a later load of the game surprise again lost the update button.

There is some conflict with these 2 mods in particular, the thing is they were fine in the past months since they were published and out of nowhere ...

I made my updates in the latest publish so whatever, I suspected now there could be a id conflict with one of my other mods that leads to this mess, i will look in to it later and comeback with an answer.

Thx for replay.

And everything is disabled in-game? No mods or addons are active when you were deleting the files? You didn't leave anything open like the game, a txt editor.. you were just browsing in the file manager and deleting the stuff?

Sounds odd... are you loading a save? or starting over after testing the mod?

is it a mod or addon?

weird...
The only issue I ever had was with making mods... you gotta make sure they are disabled in-game before uploading. The mod folder will still exist but be empty and get a bad .pak file. This is a sign that the 'mod' was still in use... aka enabled in game when you went to pack it up. Same thing happens if you have a file from the mod open in a text editor. Whole 'in use' applies there too.

Im disabling all mods when i work with one and when i upload, im following protocol :). Nothing open, clean packing and work.

One is a mod and the other is a scenario, both are related as Episode 9 from my campaign, related as my story of campaign but script wise should pe total separate things.

I dont see any lost packs, even wiped all files including the game for a fresh install.

Now I remember where all the trouble started, I made an updates to all my mods and at some point half to almost all of them got then this problem of no update but after a restart all recovered except these 2.

So far either of the 2 seems to be something:

1.When i did the updates, somewhere there is conflict of files between the mods.
2.As you said some lost pak file or something that is hanging to that mod name.

Is the console outputting any error messages?

The error.log, crash.log or console.log all found here:

<Drive Letter>:\Steam\userdata\<Your Steam ID>\244030\local

or

Default steam install location inside Program Files (Program Files(x86) / steam...)

I checked the logs and rechecked again, no errors or mention of anykind about the these two.

I will reinstall windows at some point and wipe all data and registries if even after that the prob persists then its a steam workshop issue.

Hmm... that's a bit drastic just for some mods..

Hah, yeah but i said at some point a windows reinstall will take place, not for the mods, generally speaking and i will come back on topic after if all is ok.
