Mod Request - Resource Efficiency
Okay, so I have noticed something that is kind of annoying. When I place down a location for a building, in my current game I laid down a trading post, and I noticed that before it could be built, some rocks and trees needed to be removed from the location.

Well, the Trading Post itself needs 82 logs and 80 stone. In my game, labourers came and dug up the rocks and copped down the logs from the building site but then they take the time to carry the resources all the way back to town and store the resources just so a builder can walk all the way to town to pick them up again and bring them all the way back again.

I would like to see a mod that will make labourers carry resources to the nearest place requiring them. If nothing needs building then fine, they can take them to a stock pile but if there is a building nearby that needs the materials then they should automatically detour there and put down the resources so that the builder just has to build.

It would be much more efficient.

That's not something that can be modded. That behavior is something that can't be touched. Anything your people need to use has to be picked up from storage: Building materials from a stockpile, food from a barn (feels silly to see hungry people carrying food to the barn and then taking it back to eat, but...), etc etc.

The way around the issue is to place a smallish stockpile near the area where you have some clearing/building to do. When "building" a stockpile, your laborers do not need to "pick up" the rocks/iron/logs they broke down. As soon as the last thing standing there is "destroyed", the stockpile is built. It then can be used to temporarily stock up what you're getting rid of at the "real" construction site and can be destroyed afterwards if you no longer need it there.

Okay. Good to know. So placing a 2x2 stockpile next to any building I place first should have the same effect as the mod I requested. Got it.
