Question on map creation
I know that we still lack a proper map editor and are left out to using for instance https://www.transportfevermods.com/en/mapcreator.html. At the same time, i know that you can run the game with the no costs mod and adjust hights and smooth things out, add trees and stuff like that in-game. But then, this can not be saved to the "map" but just to your own save game right? Would be great if this could be elaborated by the pros on map creation.

Another thing on heightmaps, when I get a heightmap the sea level is set to "0", but lakes up in the mounainous areas are much higher up than that, but if I want water in the mountain lakes I have to lower the to sea level, meaning they will get steep cliffs from the surrounding grounds. If i raise the sealevel to compensate instead, i flood the grasslands close to the coast. I guess there is no solution to this?

I have a desire to do a map of the north of Sweden or perhaps the Bothnic gulf but my attempts so far has been far from satisfactory, even though I have followed availible guides and used heightmaps, GIMP and so on. For instance, I would need to cover the ground with about 80 % trees to make things realistic.

Thanks for your time!

I don't know how to share the map as a save game. But I do know the water can only be one height. You can use this mod to add you own lakes afterwards, not sure what would happen if it were in the save game you wanted to share. https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1254648454

hey guys, has anyone come across the error whereby the game fails to load a map because it states the image needs to be in greyscale, even though it is exported from gimp as a greyscale?

@nickbrad82 - I think I had that issue come up once, but it was probably about June or July last year, and I don't remember how (if?) I figured out how to fix it.
