Different subs?
As quaint as the VIIC is, and while I recognize that it's been made iconic by a movie I never saw, I'd very much like a mod that let me drive, say, a Type XXI...?

I don't really watch movies about the real world. I can see the real world without movies.

It's not a normal movie, it's a masterpiece. From someone who watches a lot of movies Das Boot is without a doubt in my top three. Even my parents who have NEVER sat through a whole movie watched it the whole way through(Director's Cut 3+ hours long, in German none the less) if I could only express what an achievement that is.

Well I'm glad you liked it. I'm not interested.

During the war only two type xxi were put into active service and went on patrols, but these were not used in combat. This is a real fact from the real world.

Your assumption that I'm stupid has been noted.

I already know, you twit, and I don't give a crap. I want to drive one!

Much more likely to see an IX boat than XXI. The XXI arrangement of internal spaces alone would require a lot of work. The IX is essentially an evolution of the VII so much easier to make and implement at some stage.

Don't get me wrong though, would love one in game. I just think its a long shot for implementation.

Yeah true. It's just that the XXI looks so badass. But you have a point, and the XXI doesn't have a deck gun either, so I'd be deprived of the pleasure of directly shooting stuff. Ok, IX is better for the game.

Yes very super idea adds Type XX Submarine
ZZ109 30 Mar, 2020 @ 4:30pm
Considering the Italian Fleet had a very operation submarine fleet, I think it would brake some barriers if they considered developing a campaign and boat upgrading system for that... Plenty of models to choose from.
Especially if they increase the basing in southern Europe. Big increase in replayability.

Or even just a promotion system where you are gradually assigned to command higher level subs. Ehhh... maybe not, considering WWII only lasted a few years after the game is set. So, maybe each time you make a playthrough, you unlock a different captain and a different story with a higher grade sub. Paid DLC! Or gargantuan mod. Or gargantuan mod that they adopt as a paid DLC like Skyrim's Dawnguard and Dragonborn.

I'd like to see them mainly to see them. You CAN reach the US coast in this old thing, you just need to keep your engines & nav station manned and use low-ish speeds. Unfortunately you can't automate crew rotation, you have to micromanage it, but it can be done easily enough.

Maybe the promotion system will work to, since war badge in this game means nothing, maybe after we'v unclock the higher badge we got promote to play with the better type uboat or as simple as become leader for a wolfpack so there we feel like we are fighting for those upgrade like we will on actual event.
