Most modules allow inventory management.
Full control of party members isn't possible with the NWN engine, though the player can crudely manage their behaviour via radial menu and inventory.
I don't think there's any way to convert saved PCs into companions for a single player.
Of course, in multiplayer you can have the full D&D party experience.
The are so many mods there that have been there for YEARS that it's a dragon's treasure hoard of mods for NWN
