Open Mod via BanishedKit
I have BK installed and working and I've searched for this answer but just couldn't find it. I could be blind but if someone could offer up some insight on how I would open a mod via BK so that I could make a change without having to figure out how to do a ton of other aspects of the mod?

I want to use an existing UI mod but I would like to make one personal preference change without having to do the entire mod for myself by scratch. I'm not looking to publish said mod or to take credit for anything. I would just like make my own play experience slightly better for myself.

Any assistance would be highly appreciated.

You cannot open a mod once it got all tidily packaged. If you want to modify an existing mod, you'll have to ask the modder for his code, you can't obtain it yourself directly from the mod via the modkit.

Ok, cool. At least I know now. Much appreciated. Looks like I'm off to PM a modder :)

PMing isn't going to work because of a private profile and I don't really want to ask the modder in their own thread so I'll ask here in case anyone can help.

I just want to mod the Status and Professions UI elements. Just to rearrange some things but not to add or remove anything. Could someone point me to the right files to edit so that I know that I'm working with the correct ones and not missing something?

I'd recommend asking those questions on WorldOfBanished.com. That's where you'll find RedKEtchup and a bunch of other active modders, and threads with tips on modding. They'll be able to help you better than I can. (I don't mod, I just moderate some other modders forums ;p )

I appreciate the response. Looks like I'm off to register on WoB LOL!

It's all good though because I'm so busy enjoying the vanilla game that all the modding stuff is just a bonus. Thanks again.

EDIT: That link leads to an insecure site and I'm worried about registering a new account there. Any idea what I might be able to do to change that?

Well, it leads away from Steam, but I can confirm it's the forums that RedKetchup runs and where he hosts his mods and those of a bunch of other modders.
If you are worried about privacy, using a throw-away email adress (one that you only use for the registration process for those kinds of sites and that has no link to your real-name or identity) is a good idea.

Once again, I appreciate the response. Really nice to see someone taking their time to help others when they don't have to. Thank you.

Yeah, it's shown as insecure in the address bar for Firefox and Chrome even if entered directly instead of following the link from this thread. I'll create a throwaway gmail as suggested and hopefully for your sake this will be the last time you have to deal with my ignorance :)

Peace

EDIT: I never realized how popular that site is. There's so much info there that I might just spend the next week catching up lol.

Hehehe, welcome to the madness. There's a bunch of stuff at BlackLiquidSoftware.com too, especially if you're looking for info on Colonial Charter or MegaMod (Or tweak-mods for CC). Again, throwaway email if you're worried about our site. ;)
