now my question is . . . how do i even add it? xD copy paste the stuff from the folder in the 'game' folder of AWSW?
like thats how the adine mod gets in
and the next problem is that i cant get Adine and ANNa Impressed at the same time
cause if i play 3 scenes with adine and have her impressed by the end of chapter 3
she will feel abandoned if i dont go with her on chapter 4
and IF i do
then Anna feels abandoned
so hoooow in the world am i supposed to do this xDD
thx already
Ps. btw im goona livestream your mod once i get the hang of everything haha
As for the installation instructions which I wanted to include but honestly forgot, here they are:
I. Installing ModTools for AwSW (skip if you already have mods installed and running):
1. Before anything else, get the modtools build from here: https://github.com/AWSW-Modding/AWSW-Modtools/archive/develop.zip
2. Inside the ZIP you will find a folder called "AWSW-Modtools-develop"
3. From "AWSW-Modtools-develop" you need to move the following:
bootstrap.rpy
"mods" folder
"modloader" folder
to the
...\Steam\steamapps\common\Angels with Scaly Wings\game\
II. Installing my stuff.
1. UnRAR the file you downloaded. You'd get a folder "eck_annashappyend" (or "eck_dragoncards" if you are installing that).
2. Move said folder to
...\Steam\steamapps\common\Angels with Scaly Wings\game\mods
I will add it to the OP.
In all seriousness, I just finished playing this through, and really liked it! The script was great, and captured the whole affection aspect that was mostly omitted during the actual game between Anna and the PC. The 'plot-hole' seemed plausible enough. I could see care was taken that Anna would be in-character. The one thing I'd improve on is the proof-reading – the language was alright overall, but had clumsy moments here and there.
I can't commit with 100% certainty, but if you have the raw text of the mod somewhere (or even in Ren'Py / Python format – whatever I can easily open and read), I think I could give it another read-through and submit some corrections / suggestions. Not that I kept count, but I saw roughly around 20 parts I would've edited. I proof-read for a hobby occasionally, so I was thinking I could be of assistance. But it's up to you, of course.
Oh, and are there multiple long branching paths in this mod, or do the choices only result in either different responses or path termination? Just wondering if there was more to it, still.
As you might've guessed, English isn't my native language so I am essentially a self-taught hobby writer. Yay. My friend (also non-native English speaker tbh) and I tried our best to proof-read the script but alas. XD
If you want to take a look at the source, it's already provided in the mod you've downloaded in non-compiled RenPy format. Just check the contents of the "eck_annashappyend" folder. I'd be glad to see what I did wrong so I could fix it and make sure that it won't happen again.
I never made a separate text file for the script, instead just doing everything "live" in Notepad++ with a following run-through with some grammar checks and such. It just felt easier and more natural that way somehow.
Different answers in the mod have different purposes actually. Some of them are, as I jokingly called them, "trap cards" which will drop you back to the default ending (I mean, what fun would it be without at least a small risk of failure, eh?). Others only affect text flavor during the conversations. And then the 3rd type actually determines what sub-type of ending you'd get.
Branching path idea crossed my mind before actually but not for the 1.0 version (that's a big undertaking after all). Not sure how well it could apply at the first half of the arc, but I had some thoughts about expanding the ending routes into something more.
Confession time – I only recently downloaded Ren'Py and have only taken a beginner's course in Python many years ago. However, I tried just now and seemed to figure out how to open these files in Ren'Py. I take it that if I simply edited the eck_annashappyend.rpy (not the .rpyc) file and sent it to you, that'd be enough? I'll likely be adding comments, too, since many edits can be subjective ones where I simply want to make the writer aware of something they *might* want to change. Will there be a way for you to compare that edited file into the original to conveniently see all the changes?
The only request I'd have (if you are using Notepad++ or any other advanced text editor) is to make a list of row numbers you've changed or added comments to.
Though it's not necessary, just a matter of convenience.
I noticed you've exclusively used "I am" instead of "I'm", whereas (and I played a scene or two to test,) in the game, the player character and NPCs almost solely use "I'm", unless of course it's at the end of a sentence.
Do I have the go-ahead to Ctrl+F and change all the applicable ones? There's lots of them, so I figured I'd ask.
But in general I don't mind.
That init and the eck_common_anna.rpy files look damn near extact to something I wrote before
I'll be giving this a go tomorrow (too late right now)
On a serious note though. Do yo want me to change your name in the credits to the one you use here?
Let me know if I can help you with anything.
It's really good, some errors which can only come from a non-english speaker but that's no big deal.
Good work here, keep it up.
BTW. do you want it uploaded to the modtools github?
let me know if you need anything
