Editing Files
First of all - If you have some kind of gripe about how you think a game only should be played according to you, don't even bother replying.

So i've always been a tamperer, in terms of files and whatnot of games. Megaquarium is no exception, and i have for some time gone through the effort of boosting both filters, pumps, staff and food dispensers. Usually works just fine, data files are quite easy to edit in this instance.

However, as of 2.0.9 + DLC, i've encountered an odd problem. Despite pumps and filters still edit just fine, food dispensers no longer seem to update their capacity. i.e. going from 200 to 1000. They still appear to have to have their default capacity set, even if i start a new game and all.

Edit:

Editing DLC files, have for some reason carried over. Dispenser are showing their change correctly though. Just not the non-DLC food dispensers...

Why is that exactly?

I understand that you're not using Steam workshop however this feels like a Steam workshop style discussion, since it's about editing game files. Therefore I've moved it over to that forum.

So as I understand it you're editing fishFood .data? Something like this?

"itemBox":{ "items":["orangePellet"], "capacity":200 -> 1000 },

I just tested this at my end and it works fine. Have you gone back into the file to check that your earlier edits weren't overwritten by an update? v2.0.3 included an update to the fishFood.data file which would have overwritten any edits locally in your copy.

If that is the case you might consider turning your changes into a mod. Mods are immune to being overwritten by base game updates, which would save you having to go in and tinker each time a file is updated. Here's a quick primer into modding:

https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/workshop/discussions/18446744073709551615/1644292444646337888/?appid=600480

You can ignore most of steps which are to do with uploading to workshop. It's possible to create a mod locally just for personal use.

I'm starting to think a mod would probably be more ideal in the end, because of the frequency of you updating the game.

I appreciate your time, and the reply!
