Correct way to make new freestyle and multiplayer settings?
I've been curious aboutt this for some time.

The first thing I tried to do was to mess with the enable freestyle and 1-4 player thing under "Force Patterns" in the RGS editor.

However whenever I subsribed to the (private) mods I made for that in the workshop, I did not find them in the freestyle or multiplier menu when I launched Majesty to test them.

Today, I was using the editor's ability to load oringal quests from their file location

...steamapps/common/MajestyHD/QuestsMX

One of these is mx_Freestyle.q

Before I looked at this, I wasn't sure why workshop quests tagged with freestyle or multiplier never showed up in-game.

The editor documentation mentions that you can save multiple Force patterns, but there really isn't any reason to for normal map-making purposes. This quest makes use of this feature.

mx_Freestyle.q contains EVERY multiplayer and freestyle setting under it's Force Patterns
(and switching between them reveals the respective unit patterns, etc).

Conjecture follows -

I think that the template file arrangement of mx_Freestyle.q might be the reason why making multiplayer and Freestyle settings in the editor makes them show up (under downloadable quests in the singleplayer map screen or not at all) instead of in the freestyle and multiplayer menus.

If it's possible to create functional multiplayer and freestyle options at all with RGS, it likely can only be done by editing this specific quest file.

This should be possible without overriding the current options, since you can still add new force patterns to it in the editor.

I'll be trying this out myself more this week, but I'm hope this is useful to others
(or those better informed can correct my misinformation)

I've since confirmed (5/16/2018) that editing the (1P player forces, offmap monster, and freestlyle) portions of this q file will work in Majesty. Unfortunately the UI for selecting them did NOT update.

I had been hoping that it would add my new force option to the freestlye's drop down list.

After adding a new option (which did not appear in-game). I overode an existing option (Wild Expanse because I hate the huge map size).

While I renamed Wild Expanse in the editor, it still appeared as Wild Expanse in the freestyle drop down selection screen (with it's old description).

However, the map did load with the new monster lairs and turned out to be compatible regardless of which player forces / wandering monsters were used with it.

I'm going to try to find someone in multiplayer to see if the versions of (wild expanse and some MP specific parts of the Q file I edited) will show the same behavior. And also if this will work as a host-alone download or will require both players to have it.

From what I can tell of freestyle so far... -

Area 1x1, and 5x5 must remain blank in 2P
This might extend to Area 1x2 and 2x1 for the Shared Border setting
Area 1x1 2x5 and 5x2 must remain blank in 3P
Area 1x1 1x5 5x1 and 5x5 must remain blank in 4P
This might extend to Area 1x2 1x4 2x1 and 2x5 for the Alliance setting
