One the very noticeable problems with a late-game map is that it becomes slower the more shuttles you build to equalize/transport resources between areas/domes.

Part of this, I think, is the game trying to render the actual shuttle movement between so many places and not solely (or perhaps at all) the game calculating the add/subtract of resources from source to destination.

It seems like a mod that allowed for upgrading shuttle hubs into underground ('Boring') shuttle hubs would help reduce this CPU load and make late-games run smoother. Instead of needing to wait on the shuttle to graphically move from source to destination, the game would calculate the distance between the two and send the resource with that timer for when it actually gets there----similar to however the game calculates movement of a rover from one tunnel entrance to it's exit?

If anyone could make a mod like this, I wholeheartedly encourage you to do so. I'm sure it would be extremely popular based on the improved mechanics/game CPU in addition to making screenshots of late-games better with the skies not being carpeted with shuttles.
