How can we tell which mods are updated to current version
After the new update I see mmost mods broke.

The question is as I am running through the mods lists

Which are update to the current version and which are not?

Load the game and go to the mods section. There's a setting at the bottom to show only compatible mods. When searching through mods, unfortunately, there is no way to tell unless the creator specifies the mod is updated to game version xxx.

I would actually prefer that Steam made a field that allowed the game to automatically report a mod that isn't compatible with the current build. If someone subscribes and downloads it, the game can check it and report back if there's any incompatibility. The creator is then emailed to tell them and can then update it or delete it. Until it's updated, it has a red flag to notify players of incompatibility. I have contacted Steam with this request, lets see if they listen.

I sure hope they listen because it get very fustrating to get excited about a mod only to find out you can't use it.

Yes there needs to be some policing of mods that are outdated. I know people would get mad but delete mods that are not compatible and without any development should be deleted. The concepts should be kept in the community so ideas are not lost.

Steam have been asked to do this over and over again but as usual, Steam doesn't listen.

It only needs to be for EA games since updates in the game mean the mods often need to be reworked to remain compatible. Once the game is in release, the mods can stay there forever since they don't need any updating to keep compatibility.

Instead of deletion, mark it with a red cross so the mod remains but the cross tells you it's not compatible. Someone else can recreate the mod to make a compatible version rather than lose the mod idea completely. Once the game goes into release and mods no longer need to be regularly updated, mods still incompatible after a given period can be removed completely.

Theirs a checkmark for 6.0 under the search options in the workshop. Just click that :P

Also, deleting mods would be really unfair since people can, and do update them. Also, people volunteer to update them too :)

Not a problem. If it remains for a period of time, others can update it or the creator can update it themself. If it's still incompatible after a certain period, it's deleted since it would become obvious that nobody is going to update it.

If there were 2 colours, Orange for incompatible mods that remains for 60 days and red for mods due for deletion in 30 days. Other modders could update a mod that's due for deletion since the original creator evidently isn't going to.

That gives modders a full 3 months to either update it or let it die of natural causes.

I disagree with deletion of mods. Currently they have it marked very clear what is outdated.

Sometimes people can repair outdated mods, or keep them their in stasis waiting for the game to be more refined before updating it entirely.

Additionally, it's not too much to ask for someone to just "skip over" outdated mods

It shows as outdated in the game but not always on the download page. I'll agree that modders do sometimes mark their mod as no longer being supported or they say it's outdated in the title. However, there are a number who don't. Finding a nice mod that you like, downloading it and then starting the game, only to find it's not compatible, is really frustrating. I have about 20 or so that I have recently downloaded and not one of them is compatible with the latest build. At least 5 of them appeared on the 6.0 list so that doesn't always filter out the incompatible ones.

In the workshop, it deffinitly -does- mark when something's out of date. right?

No, that's what we are saying. Unless the author of the mod attaches a note to the title to say it's no longer supported, there is no indication that it's out of date until you've downloaded it and started the game. Only the in-game mod list tells you it's out of date.

Oh I see.. The minority case were the mod is up-to-date working but the workshop says it's out of date?

The modder needs to delete the file that tells the workshop it's not ip-to-date (which is located inside the mod folder) and update it and it shall work

If this is the case, poke the modder and tell them to fix the mod to not say it's outdated

Does this mean the worshop wont tell you it's out of date till you play the game? Because I'm pretty sure the workshop automatically notifies you when a mod on the workshop is outdated. If thats the case, avoid outdated mods

The filter is 6.0, but doesnt have a tag for each patch 6.1,6.2,6.3 etc

I can see that that is tedious... But a mechanic aside from 6.0 tag should trll you it's outdated on the workshop page
Coggernaut 20 19 Jan, 2018 @ 5:58am
Also, "Last Updated" should be a good indicator too

Here's an example. It turns up in the 6.0 search list.
https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=843422563

It does say it's outdated and another updated version exists but it still turns up in the list of v6 compatible mods. This is just one that appears to override the search context, there are others that have no warning of being out of date but also turn up in the v6 compatible list.

This one shows as incompatible in the game but appears on the 6.0 list.
