I would actually prefer that Steam made a field that allowed the game to automatically report a mod that isn't compatible with the current build. If someone subscribes and downloads it, the game can check it and report back if there's any incompatibility. The creator is then emailed to tell them and can then update it or delete it. Until it's updated, it has a red flag to notify players of incompatibility. I have contacted Steam with this request, lets see if they listen.
It only needs to be for EA games since updates in the game mean the mods often need to be reworked to remain compatible. Once the game is in release, the mods can stay there forever since they don't need any updating to keep compatibility.
Instead of deletion, mark it with a red cross so the mod remains but the cross tells you it's not compatible. Someone else can recreate the mod to make a compatible version rather than lose the mod idea completely. Once the game goes into release and mods no longer need to be regularly updated, mods still incompatible after a given period can be removed completely.
Also, deleting mods would be really unfair since people can, and do update them. Also, people volunteer to update them too :)
If there were 2 colours, Orange for incompatible mods that remains for 60 days and red for mods due for deletion in 30 days. Other modders could update a mod that's due for deletion since the original creator evidently isn't going to.
That gives modders a full 3 months to either update it or let it die of natural causes.
Sometimes people can repair outdated mods, or keep them their in stasis waiting for the game to be more refined before updating it entirely.
Additionally, it's not too much to ask for someone to just "skip over" outdated mods
The modder needs to delete the file that tells the workshop it's not ip-to-date (which is located inside the mod folder) and update it and it shall work
If this is the case, poke the modder and tell them to fix the mod to not say it's outdated
Does this mean the worshop wont tell you it's out of date till you play the game? Because I'm pretty sure the workshop automatically notifies you when a mod on the workshop is outdated. If thats the case, avoid outdated mods
I can see that that is tedious... But a mechanic aside from 6.0 tag should trll you it's outdated on the workshop page

It does say it's outdated and another updated version exists but it still turns up in the list of v6 compatible mods. This is just one that appears to override the search context, there are others that have no warning of being out of date but also turn up in the v6 compatible list.

This one shows as incompatible in the game but appears on the 6.0 list.
