As long as you subscribe to mod on Steam it is safe to use
To be extra safe
Avoid mods on workshop that require manual installation even though these should not cause an issue they can trick some antivirus software
Example:
[Configs]
Liveries
Do not download mods from external sites this is where alot of people run into trouble
No content creator here uploads to external mod site
Avoid mods that require .exe to be installed this can also trigger antivirus software.
