Steam Mods and Viruses
I use Webroot SecureAnywhere as my antivirus and it detected an unknown mod for Street Legal Racing Redline as a threat. It just said that the Steam Workshop had a virus, and I do not know which mod had the virus. However, Webroot detected mods for other games as safe. But I am worried that that was a false negative and that someone could hack into the mod and add a virus. However, I am not sure if the mod that contained a virus was a real threat, or a false negative. The Steam Support website says that antiviruses interfere with Steam. But who knows what viruses could be out there?

First of all antiviruses are unhappy about certain files, like executables, and those are rarely part of a mod. You surely can find out in your av which file it didn't like. Did it really say "Steam Workshop"? It could be the mod installer "WorkshopInstaller.exe", which comes with the game, also there are a few other files that could be false detected, check here

As for mods, as far as I know, there are currently these ones on workshop containing an exe, which should be all safe, and two of them are just previous versions of game files:
936.exe
Custom Workshop Installer
SLRR editor
934 Workshop Installer
Anyways, when in doubt, you can always check the files on virustotal.com
