Battle grid idea
I haven't started messing with any modding or models yet. I know blender. But before I start delving into mods to solve my problem, can someone let me know if the following is feasible?

I'd like to create either a mesh grid or flat pane with transparency and a grid texture to act as a battle grid. I'd like to use some of the small maps as D&D encounter maps and just use GM mode to pick up and move characters and monsters just like you would miniatures on a standard battle grid.

I imagine any mesh would need some geometry to "lift" it off of the floor plane. It would also need to not have a collision mesh so that the figures wouldn't collide with it.

So before I go down the rabbit hole, does this sound doable?
