CC:Journey 1.76 - Bug?
So, I thought I had purchased some Llamas. I'm sure they were there in the small trading pen when I had last left the game a few nights ago. I couldn't find them, so purchased another at an opportune time and just didn't think much about it.

Later, as the game advanced and I hit 1500 pop, I was looking for whatever assets I could find to help offset what was/is an apparent incoming food shortage. No llamas... Where are my llamas?

I found them when one of the Bannies got a bit too cold. It seems they were shunted to the edge of the map and are quite happily breeding there. Some Bannie, somewhere, is still caring for them even though they don't have a pasture. (I haven't been able to spot them doing it, yet.) The cold Bannie in question was a Laborer that was on their way to pick up some Charki/leather in that edge-tile where the llamas are. Evidently, one got slaughtered somehow.

I now remember this happening at least once before, but I am not sure what the issue is. (At least a year/more ago.) I don't know if it's a known CC:J issue with llamas, with a llama pasture, or a 1.76 bug. I also don't know if it's an indication of the Banished "edge tile" bug, either. There's just that one Bannie, so far, that occasionally goes out to care for those llamas orphaned at the map edge... (Not a flock of laborers/others pathing to the edge and dying like I would expect if it was a "map bug" problem.)

I've constructed a new llama pasture, but no Vendor will go get them and the Herdsman just tends the empty field, "miles" away from the herd of lllamas I've now got at the edge of the map. :)

Advice, infos, etc?

(Will attach a screenpic when able.)

I've got some sheep. I started the play with one of the goals being to have one of everything... :) That's not particularly easy with all that CC:J has in it. :)

Those darn llamas, though, are not cooperating. But, the funny thing is that they're treating that tile as if it's a pen and breeding and, somehow, there's a Bannie acting as a herdsman. Every once in awhile, charki bits and leather show up on the ground and laborers go out there to collect it. (I haven't spotted the herdsman going out there to do this, but don't know that it may not entirely depend on one being present.)

What I'm thinking is that when I laid out the pen the llamas were going to be in, somehow the tiles were designated "out of range" (out of bounds value, etc) either due to a bug with the pen or the terrain. So, the game shunted that OOR tile reference to the edge of the map due to math-magics. Somehow, though, counting the llama as actually being toggled as being in that penned state or belonging to a pen was left over and they're now multiplying.

If they don't also obey whatever default rule was set for their population... Well, theoretically they could take over the entire map. :) It might be worth letting the game run just to see if that will happen. :)

Do you have a pasture somewhere dedicated to llamas and a worker assigned but that looks empty? If it's built on a map edge or on a slope that's too steep, you definitely have a pathing issue that teleported the llamas to the edge of the map, and the person tending them probably also randomly teleports there (walks on the bugged square and ends up on the edge), but then has to walk back.

The only danger is someone freezing or starving on the way, but you might be missing out on productivity. You could try building another pasture and empty the one that looks empty and packed up its llamas on the map edge then destroy it and replace it with something that won't go as far up the slope if it's on a hill.

As far as I know, I didn't build a llama pasture right after I bought the llamas. While I was looking for a spot to place it in, another trader cam and I bought up some other animals and placed those, first. The pen at the Trading Post was full of critters waiting for their turn. I distinctly remember the llamas heads peaking up from the press of furry critters. :)

After discovering the llama gang, I built a llama pasture and watched the herdsman there for awhile as well as kept an eye on the group of llamas at the edge. I couldn't detect any interactions. The herdsman just engaged in the "tilling the field" animation. The llamas just stayed stationary in their little group... llama'ing.

Laborers do "see" the Charki bits and will pick them up, which is what alerted me to the llamas in the first place. (Cold Bannie)

I'm thinking it's likely an out of range error issue, as stated. Somewhere, some tile and pen combo gave an out of range return that shunted the animals down to the edge.

Come to think of it, I also had a sheep pasture where the sheep would not stay in the pasture... I'm sure it was a suitably flat tile area and would have been a Fenced Pasture. (I think that's a straight-up default pasture?)

It's worth noting I didn't use any terrain 'scaping tools on the map before discovering these anomalies.

I keep forgetting to attach a pic, but will do it just "for the record" when I get the chance. (Was trying to go for 3000 pop, but not sure I'll make it as I am probably unsuccessfully trying to counter a food shortage that, IMO, shouldn't really be happening. But, it's been quite awhile since I played last so I may just be out of practice. :))
