Getting ready for Windows 11
With windows 11 rolling out soon some are in for a big surprise. Some system will not qualify. New requirements for this version can be reviewed here as well as a check to see if your system is ready. https://mspoweruser.com/microsoft-windows-pc-health-check-windows-11-app/ More information about the Windows 11 here: https://www.windowscentral.com/windows-11

One of the biggest problems you'll face, based on past experience, will be with GPU drivers. Be sure you know what driver you're using now, and I'd have a backup copy. This won't be as much help as you'd expect if your GPU manufacturer hasn't kept up with Win 11 development. With each new Windows release I have to abandon favorite games, so be forewarned.

There is also the TPM 2.0 Factor to consider as well, probably need a bios update from your motherboard provider...

And why should we even bother right now?

Or you could not worry about it for a minimum* of 52 months and carry on using Windows 10. I say minimum because the October 2025 date will most likely be extended.

It is always good to be forward thinking. Plan ahead. Know what you will need so if you need to replace a major component such as a motherboard or processor you might as well upgrade. When things go on sale you will be ready. Remember the idiom "forewarned is forearmed."

I see your point, however... you see, unless someone deliberately buys obsolete hardware, this is simply non issue, as all currently available hardware is Windows 11 compatible as of right now... and if it is not, well, I don't think that its buyers will really give a damn.

I'll likely to hang fire until the volunteer software testers (sorry I meant guinea pigs) scrub that sorry I mean the first out the trench have identified the majority of the vulnerabilities and bugs :D

thankfully using that approach I managed to slide right over windows 8 without having to touch it.

Other than that, happy days, may the most popular desktop software live on. On a desktop.

I can't totally accept your view. We are all looking for the "deal" There is stuff out there that is NOT W11 compatible because of TPM and one has to be aware. I personally know some one with a recently purchased MB that does not have TPM 2.0 capabilities although his new CPU is acceptable. These were purchased a few months ago before awareness of the new W11 requirements. Had he been aware he may have made other choices. In this case he gives a damn.

I have referenced information in my OP. Follow the links.
Remember nothing here is imperative only informational W 10 is supported until 2025.

At your Taskbar down left is a Text field
Enter "run" and open the Console
In the Console type in "dxdiag" and press OK
You can check your DirectX Version in the opened window

To check your TPM open the "run" Console again
Enter "tpm.msc" to open your TPM Information window.
In the middle Window down right is the Version number
I have DX12 but says tpm cannot be found

Thanks I did it the way Windseher said. But thanks anyway. :) It told me TPM cannot be found though.
