how to modify ammo?
none of these ammo mods are good enough for the amount I would like to carry, I don't want to use infinite ammo cheats but most of these ammo mods aren't much better than the base number allowed and sometimes even worse nerfing how much you can carry. how can I mod it to increase the ammo carrying limit

Ammo maxes are defined in defs/ammoInfo.txt
Tetsu 19 Jun, 2021 @ 9:21pm
so do i just go in there and edit it?

Yeah, just copy the file and change the values to whatever you want. This guide should explain how to make your custom version take effect: https://smoke39.github.io/turok/getting_started.html

actually having a hard time finding the exact file unless its supposed to be the giant jumbled mess of text mind giving a foolproof explanation as the link you sent doesnt have the same things when i check the games files via common steamapps, defs only has mapinfo and no other files

Sounds like you're looking inside a mod's kpf, or maybe the tutorial folder. You need to look inside game.kpf. It's a plain zip file, just with a different extension.

https://postimg.cc/xc3KKHJH well this is all i got for a kpf when looking in the files, when i got the option of how to opened it i used notepad as that usually is how i edit and got a bunch of messy text, am i doing it wrong & should i reinstall or what? i go from program files to steam to steamapps. common and then go to turoks folder how did you get there cause im having no luck repeating the steps the guide does

game.kpf isn't a text file, it's a compressed archive with all the files in it. You can either temporarily change its extension from .kpf to .zip so Windows will open it as an archive automatically, or you can manually open it with something like 7zip[www.7-zip.org].

I just remembered that I think Windows hides file extensions from file names by default. If that's the case then it might be easier to just use 7zip rather than digging around in Windows' settings.

can you tell me the exact steps you took to find the zip folder with all the stuff in it cause i cannot for the life of me find it myself and would i need 7zip cause i use winrar and i dont remember the two mixing well, + im not 100% game file editing savvy so it isnt so simple for me to understand the steps modders take when it comes to finding the exact areas

Winrar should work too. You had the right file before - the kpf file named "game". Just open it in winrar instead of notepad.

is there a way to revert it back to as it was and not to open up as a notepad file
Smoke39 18 21 Jun, 2021 @ 12:54pm
Yeah, you can change the default file association, but I'm not on Windows anymore, so you'll have to ask someone else or look it up. In the meantime, you should be able to open it manually by opening winrar, and opening it from the menu (or probably just dragging and dropping it into the window).

Btw, if you wanna ask someone else, you might try the Turok Discord[discord.gg]. It's a small community, but there're a few other modders who use Windows who chat regularly.
