Do you have an idea for what exactly you might want such a mod to do? "Reduce difficulty" is rather broad. Based on your writeup, I'm guessing the general gist is you're concerned about how much damage your lance is taking, and I can think of only a couple things:
1.) Give all 'mechs in your lance a blanket damage reduction value, essentially just plugging in a handicap to the Shielding skill (that is, doing it behind the scenes, but giving everyone a +whatever value, on top of whatever progression they make by skilling up in and of itself).
2.) Ditto, but with the evasion stat, so enemies are less accurate.
If you want to reduce damage taken, try using the Save Editor and give your Commander pilot max skills (or whatever you want). This will not only make you hit harder, but take significantly less damage.

You could also turn on aim assist on the gameplay options. Think of it as a targeting computer.
Just to date myself a little, I got into the game when there were four boxed sets called Battletech, Citytech, Aerotech, and Battleforce, back in 1988.

It modifies the way enemies spawn in battle, all enemies arrive via dropship, it also cuts down on the vehicles spawning behind you and makes units spawn in much further away. It definitely will help with the difficulty.
(and yes, I play SP twitch shooters like Doom and whatever with slowmo, because I'm also old and feeble lol)
I've added a hotkey-based bullettime thingy to one of my MW5 mods previously that worked pretty well (pre-DLC). Maybe I'll revisit that idea sometime.
