You can change your portrait with KSE, but in this case there simply is none for a Gand.
The character portraits in my mods that aren't normally in the character creator are not generated by the game, it's my image editing work.
In my Twi'lek mod I replace things, a more sofisticated way (not really a thing on Steam) would be to actually add things instead of replacing things.
I won't go into the adding things part, but you could just replace vanilla portraits, let's say those of the 1st Asian character, then use KSE to point to that one. Again, you would need to create those portrait replacements with an image editor.
To create a portrait I usually use screenshots from the character creator, but that doesn't work for full body models (no seperate head and body, just one model), which the Gand has. You could do things with in game screenshots or screenshots through 3D modeling software.
I'll leave it at that for now, feel free to ask more questions :)
Okie dokie so lets say i created a portrait of a gand by using 3d modeling software, how would you go about replacing one of the portraits already in the game, so adding/replacing a portrait of the gand into the game files?
i have downloaded kotor tool so i can get to the portrait.2da file and open it with 2da file editor to see the number sheet that shows the portrait numbers but not sure how to acutaly add my own image of a gand portrait to the file
So I guess we're doing the next level thing then.
First some theory/background:
portraits.2da connects to appearance.2da and appearance.2da can connect to heads.2da (as said, this one doesn't have a separate head so, not really relevant here).
If you open portraits.2da then there's a star at the bottom to add a new row, you can also copy/paste a row (right click a row) to that new row to get you started. I'd give the baseresref PO_PGand. The last 4 columns are also related to your portrait image names, so keep those in line.
Do look at the existing entries, KotOR2 has 3 states, neutral/light, half way to dark and fully dark side.
The columns with appearance in them can point to the existing Gand NPC appearance, Not a new entry, that should work. However, if you get the hang of things, you might as well add a truely new row based on the NPC Gand row.
