corruped steam files??
Ok so this started the other day. the game crashed I can not remember the error code. but when I went to restart the game a warning came up about the files not being able to sync with steam servers. that is when the fun really began. I restarted the game it started fine but like 2 mins in crashed again. this time all the icons on my desktop that were on the same drive as steam were gone. I check the hdd with win/ manage/drives and the whole drive was gone. I thought WTF? I powered down the system, checked all the cable they were good, so I switched out the D: and E: drive cables and fired it back up. the drive appeared normal, but then I started getting this windows can not run this app error message. I uninstalled MW5 and re installed it. worked fine for 5 hours, then crashed, and crashed again. then started getting Steam can not sync file with cloud, the game maybe be running on another pc. I have steam and mw5 set up on 3 pc's but have only used this pc to play the game on for several month. Where was I , right steam can not sync files, files maybe corrupted, then "Windows can not run this app" and again my file icons disappeared. I gave up before I lost cuz it was like 2 am.

So now I am going to uninstall both steam and mw5 as well as all my mods and try again. but if some else knows why this is happening PLEASE PLEASE " let me know. so I am off now to uninstall both programs and will re install on a different drive.

Wish me luck.

Sounds like you have serious issues with hdd controller, let me guess your motherboard is made by Gigabyte?

No I am running a asus Sabertooth 990 with an amd fx 8350. With a radon rx 570 gpu with 4gb ram. Ya I know it is old but I generally don't play a lot of games, and works well for MW5.

Well I just did like I said uninstalled the game and steam server.seems to be working ok now. but I think just because you mentioned that I will run seagate hdd drive test on the drives.
I ran disk checkup on them but maybe a more serious test will tell me more.

The biggest pain in the butt was getting all my mods back. That and I lost all the upgrades on my mech, sigh.... If I have the same problem again I will take out the mods and see if that is causing conflicts. t
