A reliable way to keep an actuator rotated toward the direction it was facing upon activation ?
Say you spawn and drive a creation with this rotating actuator with a pointer on it and it is facing a fixed point on the map like a garage, is there a reliable way to keep this pointer rotated so it remains pointing at the garage as the rest of the creation rotates clockwise or counter clockwise directions. I have gotten close but it always drifts/over rotates.

I described it as pointing at a fixed point on the map but i actually meant to say just a direction.

from what I gather of your needs, using a system like current tank stabilisers should work, with a bit of tweaking depending on needs
something like kamunist's UME KM700 Mod 2B remaster has a usable stabiliser that works fine in singleplayer or as server host, but it gets wobbly with lag or as a client

I'll take a look at it, thanks.

Litchytsu's stabilisers work best in MP but require an actuator with cheated speed (light speed turning velocity for the stabilised actuator, literally) to function properly
from what I gather of litchytsu himself, there's like some 3-4 generations of stabilisers that work in more or less different ways for the same result, with for the more advanced some added reliability and stability

Just tested the tank and it's solution drifts off target direction too, i haven't dug into it, it might be using a similar solution to what i already put together.

The litchytsu solution sticks like glue with no drift, i am going to keep trying things, maybe i can come up with a way to compensate without using a light speed actuator.

OHHhhhhh, so i spent hours dialing in sensor settings to compensate for the drift and everything was fine and reliable, the next day that setup is drifting again. I can't figure out why it is drifting so badly, later that day i am in the bathroom where many the epiphany will come, i had turned all my graphics up to maximum to take screenshots the same night i finished dialing in that setup. I turned all my graphics back down to where they usually are and it starts working again just like it had after all that tweaking.

It is a good thing i didn't build anything around my setup, relying on it to make anything work, it would have behaved differently for different players.

curious behaviour from the game, but good to know

After doing some testing it seems that the setup i worked out is extremely sensitive to frame rate so changing the graphics settings causes a fluctuation of 20 -30 fps and that seems to be causing the drift.
