Is modding difficult?
Hey I have an idea for an add on mod. Nothing extraordinary, probably a 30-60min long campaign like level.

So I have never created a mod in my life before, I have basically no programming knowledge.

Is modding like mostly drag and drop and changing values in the code? Or do you have to manually write lines of code? The YouTube tutorials looked easy, I mean changing some stuff in the code and copy pasting, this should be fine but nothing more.

Would be glad if you can advice before I jump in and waste my time.

If it should remain simple you will have no problems, especially since there are now very good and detailed tutorials where you are also shown step by step how you can build a map from scratch.

What deters most is the immense amount of time, so I would suggest you rather create a small mod (with attention to detail, etc.) as a mod that lasts longer, but where you also put in much more time.

The most in my Opinion is drag and drop or pull//cut Faces. But if you know the Shortcut for rotate, enlarge etc you can build quick a small Mod. NPc`s are also just drag an drop, same with ammunition, Resins, Pistol, Shotgun etc (it is just select and drop them into your map).

if you want them to go certain ways (Np`s), it's a little more work, but there are very easy to understand tutorials.

I think it will rather fail because the time investment will be too big for you, but to build a Mod itself not really.

If all you are wanting to do is make a new campaign level, then no programming is necessary. You can do quite a bit with just the stock assets Hammer comes with.
