Room Editor Tips: Obstacles and Painted Logic
Logic objects in Escape Simulator are very powerful! One of the most useful in the polishing stages of your room building is the Obstacle logic. It blocks player movement, and the movement of thrown items, but not grabbing items. It’s a nice touch to block off any awkward corners where players might accidentally lose essential items or get caught up when trying to explore. It can also be used to stop players grabbing things inside certain containers in particular positions - sometimes if players get in too close they can reach through. The image found here[preview.redd.it] shows the issue, and how a simple obstacle will prevent it happening.

Another little trick that can be useful if you’re using a lot of logic objects: they inherit the painted color of any parent they have. In this example found here[preview.redd.it] the obstacle is parented to the pot, which is painted blue. Obstacles aren’t very interactable, but for slots, locks, triggers etc. it can be handy to be able to color code your logic items. Naturally those parent objects don’t have to be inside the room itself, you can hide them away from the player.
