Create characters for level 12?

There is a new adventure for level 12 characters, is there a way to create a new character that starts at level 12? If not then how do you play a campaign like this one?

You can create custom characters (stored on your character roster from your main menu). Then on each of them you can level them up from the main menu character roster (view them first). Note: The drawback is that they only have starting equipment even though they have higher levels.

It's not too bad though, we've been playing lvl 5's with newbie gear and eventually they gather the higher level gear. It's fun!
