Checking out the top rated skins, not many of them are Gold, so i wouldn't worry too much about it :)

A joke among my friends is that the golden weapons will beat any weapon anyone makes because many of them were the first ones published for certain weapons in the workshop due to how low effort they are to make in general (You just make a cool golden gradient and then pretty much reuse it all the way through), racking up a good amount of early votes when the workshop was just released

I can't exactly go into specifics, but some of the top rated stuff was made within the past 2 weeks. Regardless of duration, the good stuff will always be shown off more than the bad.
