The process for placing objects in the Editor has changed with the November update. New assets still come out of the menu at a vertical level 4, but you can now set a new "default level" with the following method. Move an object vertically to your preferred height. Copy this selected object by holding down the Alt key. The duplicate, and any objects after that will come out at the same level. As soon as you copy an object at a different height using the Alt key, this height becomes the new default. One exception is objects that are lower than level 4. If you copy them with the Alt key, they jump up to level 4 height.
