Wall/barbed fence mod
Love me my RON, and I have many fond memories of the game. I enjoy the ablity to build cities and have those cities become contested battlegrounds: attack a city and cripple their iron or wood supply, raid towns along the coast, or lay seige to a capital. However, i have always been curious about what it would be like if there was the ability to build walls.

For instance, in the ancient age the texture would be a pallisade/mud wall (or perhaps nothing for ancient age?). In the classic-med ages it would be a stone wall turning a city or military district into a real fortress (could take iron and wood to build). For gunpowder-enlightenment it would be a pallisade again making troops divert to certian pinch points leading into the city (and once more it would take iron or wood to build). These walls wouldnt allow units to enter through except for a gate positioned along trade routes leading out of the town. (perhaps like age of empires 3 where u can change a segment of wall into a gate?)

For industrial-info ages it would be like a barbed wire fence (cost only iron or again iron or wood) slowing enemy movement giving time for machine gunners to line up targets.

I understand that the game intentionally leaves walls out of it in order for players to avoid "forting" up their cities, but i think the addition of walls would be a good feature of the game.

I've seen that mod, but I would appreciate a more solid mod for it. I feel that this is an option worth disscussing, but I understand if this doesn't come around.
one of the few original additions in the oakymod which is maintained by me and Him. includes a few tiers of walls (wood > stone > castle > force fields) and barbed wire (which does exactly what you expect) plus a new AoE defense which might be exactly what youre looking for
