A few important notes if you want to use it:
- There's probably some errors and lines fully missing, I'm not perfect :( If you spot any, please let me know so I can correct them, it would be massively appreciated !
- The summary provided above is a very rough summary of the global place of each section of the game's text in the file, but you'll quickly understand that you have to move around lines of traductions a lot in the file so they don't override each other, so keep in mind that there's a LOT of miscellaneous lines sprinkled in.
- This is the translation file I've created because it best suited the way I decided to approach this, and because it's the one that worked better in French. It is extremely likely that you're going to want to modify it heavily to adapt it to the specifities of your own language, and that many choices I made aren't the best option for you. Think of this file as a starting canvas, there's no universal translation file for every language and translating style.
- Some lines will be missing, and some others will have missing chunks. This is normal : there are multiple instances of the game repeating the same line in different contexts, so I've only translated it once. If there are missing chunks, it's because I've decided to cut a lot of lines into multiple parts, in order to make them more manageable, adaptable and to account for the game's use of slightly modified version of normal lines (for exemple ; the upgraded relics have specific lines where only the percentage or cooldown time changes, so I've cut these lines in two around the modifiable number to allow one translation to work for every stage of upgrade for these relics.). Given the similar wording for certain relics (ex. Jellied Eel and Crimson Cape), I can translate the first part of the sentence only once and have it work on both.

A few tips if you're new to steam fantrad (like I was !) :

- The most important tip : Have fun. Insert play on words, obscure references... You'll enjoy yourself more and enrich the final translation.
- The translation program is extremely simple, but it's extremely dumb. All you have to do is type the original line between quotation brackets, put a comma, then write the translation line on the same line. It's that simple.
But the counterpart to that is that it will do strictly one thing : read the text on the left between quotation brackets, and if it corresponds to a line in the game, replace the words with the translation lines on the right, starting from the top of the file all the way to the bottom.
If there any error or typo, a space where there shouldn't be, it won't work. If you translate "boneraise" then later in the file translate "boneraise minion A", "boneraise minion A" will become "translation minion A" and won't work, so you'll need to switch the lines.
If an already translated line contains anything that can be "translated" by a translation line below it, it will do it :
(ex : in french, "maiden" is "damoiselle". So "maiden" got translated to "damoiselle". But later in the translation file, I translated "sell", the verb, to "vendre", its french equivalent. So the game saw "damoiselle", and translated "sell" in it, even though it had already been translated, to "vendre",leaving me with "damoivendree", which doesn't mean anything.)
- General rule : keywords at the very bottom, complex lines on top.
- Take a lot of notes. Note your ideas, note what's giving you trouble, note everything. Always have something to scribble on nearby.
- Use Control+F. If you don't know this already, control+f allows you to search for any specific word or character combination in a file or webpage. You will NEED to use it. Trust me, it's a godsend.
- Don't hesitate to cut lines in multiple parts. You do not have to translate every single line of text as a full block : you can chop it into more manageable and adaptable parts.
- Work in sections, and keep track of your progress ; it will help you organize and keep you motivated.
- Always keep in mind how much space you have to write in any specific occasion ; the translation won't adapt if your text is too long, it will put it offscreen.
- Keep your keywords coherent ; always translate the important keywords the same, otherwise you'll confuse the player.
- Steal from the best : look at your favorite games, how they phrase things, how they express keywords, and use it.
- revisit already translated lines often ; if you're playing a game still in developpment, lines already translated may change and you may need to adapt them in turn.
- if you find a line of text with a typo in the game, translate it, then create a duplicata without the typo in it. It'll save you the trouble of coming back to it when the typo gets patched.
- Know when to move on : not every line is going to be your magnum opus, and that's fine. Sometimes text is just there to carry information, don't ruin your life over it, you'll have plenty other occasions to let your writing shine.
- always have a synonym and a dictionary websites open. Trust me.
