Freezing player in place and removing hands for triggered cutscenes?
Trying to wrap up my Silent Hill project and had the plan to add cutscenes into the game. Essentially when its triggered, it would teleport the player into a boxed room with a screen and play the cutscene and send the player back into the level when done. What I would like to do is also be able to freeze the player in place and disable hands temporarily while you're in the cutscene room to not break immersion. I could always teleport the player into a smaller invisible box in the cutscene room. But I'm almost certain there's an option for disable movement and hands.

Have you ever looked in the whitebox of the original mod to see if you can find anything there (intro before the Alyx starts on the balcony scene)?

I have, there appears to be a teleport landmark which I'm sure is likely part of what I need. That intro where you initiate the call with her Dad is a cluster F*ck of entities and logics so its hard to know where one thing starts and the other ends to really get anything worth while out of it. I don't remember what other parts in the game initiates a cutscene that would disable movement. I may have to back track into some other maps to see if I can find anything else like the ending.

point_hlvr_player_input_modifier is what you need (deactivate teleport and hide the hands) and should easy to use with an trigger

Looks like what I need, does not disable walk however. I wonder if it needs paired up with another entity to do that.

Surely you can create a volume where the player can't walk (Player Clip, Blocking Volume or whatever it's called).

I would like to help you, but I am a beginner and have never tried more complex things in Hammer. Currently i started with my first try to make an mod ^^
