Mod Request/Idea: Actual Assassination [Answered]
It kind of bothers me that you can only knock NPCs unconscious with the assassination skill. I mean, it's really useful, but I ran into this hilarious and pathetic problem the other day where, despite having an unconscious NPC at my mercy, I could NOT get that NPC to die.

I had to carry that NPC all the way out of town (it was Lord Shiro at Catun) and aggro a leviathan onto them. And then? The NPC still didn't die. The heck sat right back up and started walking away after eating 4 hits. I had my recruit beat the NPC up. They lived. I tried this multiple times, but each of my failed attempts only served to raise their toughness. Eventually I carried the unconscious NPC to another biome and placed them right next to a Beak Thing nest. Three separate attacks later... still alive. The Beak Things wouldn't eat their body for some reason. The Beak Thing nest was eventually destroyed by Skin Spiders. I had to move the NPC to ANOTHER nest where, over the course of several in-game days and two vitals well beyond -100, they FINALLY bled to death.

And I really feel like this could've been avoided if the people in Kenshi had the technology to slit throats.

There already exists mods for this issue, but all of the ones I've been able to find use items. Items don't work with modded NPCs most of the time, and are prone to causing issues if the items are somehow affected in ways that weren't expected.

So, I'd like an action. An option you could take on an unconscious body to just... snap your opponent's neck or something. Wild animals? Unique NPCs? Recruits? Anything that's made the mistake of passing out undefended in your presence. Heck, just being able to target and attack enemies that are playing dead or have fallen unconscious would be fantastic.

Food for thought for any aspiring mod devs out there.

A mod for using your assassination skill to knock out wild animals would also be funny. Unbalanced, surely, but funny.

We can't add or alter game mechanics with the modding tool, so death items are the only way to do it, unfortunately.

This quirk of the game has always bothered me too, and I don't like the death item solution. But I recently started playing with the "chance of death" setting (in the advanced options when starting or importing a game) turned up to 2.5, and it's been a solid improvement. I might end up pushing it even higher, but it's already made fights a lot more decisive. I would give that a try if you've been playing with the default setting.
to confirm, we can not add this as its not in the game.
at most we can add death items. and there are mods for that already.
Kenshi modding covers a lot, but there are still many more limitations

Yeah another issue with the death items is that it doen't always work on people put into cages or prisoner poles.
