Same problem here... Can't find anything about it online...
OS X 10.11.5
MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Early 2015)

EDIT: It's also worth mentioning that aside from inability to save, I can't place anything other than basic terrain tiles.

I think your missing a file called XNAFileDialog.dll.
