Anything that isn't part of a mod should work fine for vanilla stuff.
It's legacy for a reason (i.e. it was made very early in the game's development), but it's great to still have them available.
You can still use the old legacy suit storage if you place it as a background object (non-interactable) and place invisible suit lockers in front of it. Now, players and bots will interact with the invisible lockers but it will look like the legacy. Just don't use the lockers with oxygen storage at the bottom as that would be weird and tricky. Scale the lockers to cover the space the legacy locker sprite uses, and place as many lockers as you think the legacy should hold suits.
