If I am a sub builder, what has been added from a year ago that I should learn/know?

Very "helpful" simsyu. Guy's here asking for a summary just so he doesn't have to do exactly that.

I haven't played for a while but from the news I've heard over the while, I can name a few though not all. Mostly changes were made to how equipment is stored.

The only new Sub Equipment I know of is the Circuit component for wiring. Check wiki for info.

Storage Containers (the little briefcases) do not fit in normal slots anymore. Instead each cabinet has special slots for them.

Materials now stack higher than 8. I think it went up to 16.

Oxygen Tanks don't stack now but last longer.

When the sub hull is hit, it spreads shrapnel around. This was meant to only happen from the End Worm but people were experiencing it all the time. Don't know if it's fixed.

Reactor's knobs move slower now.

Aaaand I don't know anymore. Hopefully someone else will fill in the the rest.

That's the gist of it, the rest are miscellaneous like being able to change button/switch/lever outputs or being able to disable batteries and supercapacitors power output. Which are all great additions.
There's also a new helpful waypoint type that combine opening a hatch and using a ladder.
Honestly I was in a hurry last time but that cause there's tones of tiny changes and additions that could change everything like above by cutting supercapacitor output you can disable "turret automation" that perhaps was also a feature implemented last year.

The good news is that a sub made using only the vanilla game should still work just fine today, there may be the odd exception, particularly if your sub relied on some game exploits to do with power or other physics stuff, a few of these major exploits were nerfed or removed for v1.0. I based my subs on the vanilla sub designs in terms of their power systems and weapons wiring, and they appear to be working exactly as they did when I made them years ago during Early Access.
