I have such a cycling camera system in a few of my workshop subs, I can't take credit for it as it's something I cribbed from the workshop as a concept, but it works well in my subs. I'll come back to this thread once I've reminded myself of which sub has the best implementation, but from memory I think it may be my Humpback Deep Diver.
UPDATE: It was in my Dallas sub, not the Humpback Deep Diver. The spotlight bouncing / cycling circuit is hidden behind the wall / structure (so hide these in the sub editor) just above the periscope in the conning tower, hopefully you will be able to see how it's all hooked up from there.

That sub has some fairly experimental stuff in it, I spent a lot of time messing around in the sub editor! I later concluded that it was OP so my sub building philosophy turned to much more basic design concepts and concentrated on being bot-friendly for my single player campaigns.
Bit Off Topic, and I don't know anything about drones.

OP probably doesn't need it anymore but, it's there. Always been, I suppose.
