how does item drop works?

i want to get new stuff on spy, scout etc but im not getting any i need to craft them or what its only way to get them? and if i craft i will need to use my basic stuff will i able to get them back by game drops?

The item drops are random, so you'll never know when.

thanks for answering but it was long time since i got dropped new weapon only getting cases
