Need help with modding!
I'm trying to edit the ground textures but I cannot find them anywhere. The only thing I see is ground textures in the editor folder but those aren't doing the trick. Somewhere in this file structure is ground texture files the base maps are using so who knows where they are? Any help appreciated.

Thanks that helps some but I'm not trying to create new textures at the moment I'm merely trying to acces the ground textures that the game already uses and can't seem to find them in the file structure anywhere.

Sorry for the misunderstanding.

I'm not at the pc at this moment but textures should be here: Steam/Speamapps/Common/Contents/Resources/data/textures/background/

Also you could try to search more info here: http://inthekillhouse.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=15

That link lead me to the weapons tutorial which I needed. I'm still having trouble with these grounds though. When I go to that backgrounds folder all that is in there is the framing of each map. Just the walls, maybe some rocks, and a white background. I imagine something in some .xml file is telling these background which assets to load onto them in game but from where? I found all the items (furniture, cars other assets) but can't find the ground textures. I must be doing something worng here. But never fear, I do not give up easy. I'll figure this out. Thanks for the help.

I can show you in GIMP.
If you are using photoshop I cant help you.

The textures in the background folders are what contain the alpha channels, walls and background texture. You just cant see them.

Convert the DDS files to TGA and the recompose and then recompose using a texture editor.

See the video below I made for you. Hope it helps.

As a side note using this method will remove the alpha channels so you will need to re add them.

You are very tech savvy for a bear. I appreciate the help and will look at this tonight.

Indeed. I honestly have no idea what I'm doing. I have vewry little experience but I love this game and it seems like a good one to learn with. It may take me a bit to get something decent together but I'm stubborn and I will. Thanks again for the assist and for all your mods which I love and kind of inspired me to take a stab at this myself. Take care :)

Ok so I converted to .tga. I decomposed the image. I edited it how I wanted. I re-added the alpha channel (at least I thinkl I did that right) and it's not working. I load the map and no objects spawn on it and as soon as I start the mission for the map all enemies immediately die. Any clue?

Sounds like your alphas are messed up

Yeah that's what I figured. Thanks for the response. I was actually using that video last night and trying to do the equivalent process using GIMP. Either that's not possible or I'm just not doing it right. I really don't want to throw down the $ for a copy of PS but I guess I might have to.

I tried making the backgrounds in Gimp myself, doesn't really work very well.

Would you happen to know which version of PS I will need to have in order to mod anything that I may want to in this game? Please tell me it's the cheap one.......
